I have decided it is time to sell my 2010 Chrysler Town and Country Touring with Braun Entervan Installation. However, I am wondering what would be a good price. A friend was gonna buy it for $20,000.00, but I didn't want to ruin our long standing friendship. You know the old adage, don't sell to friends or family.
Last Thursday, I was offered $18,000.00 by Mobility Works but then when I brought it back for the turnover, the manager handed me a check for $16,000.00. I asked him why the change even though we had shook on the deal just the day before. All he said was that he changed his mind. As you can imagine, I turned around and left with my van.
Anyway, it has 75,346 miles plus all the bells and whistles of the touring model including leather seats, power doors etc... Plus, since I drove it there are also some handicap features such as Monarch hand controls, extension on the parking brake, and spinner knob.
It is in really good shape, see photos below. No accidents or even dings on it. I am open to some suggestions on price because at this point I am wondering what will get it sold so I don't have two auto insurance payments.
I'm not sure what it is worth, but it looks very nice. And good for you walking away from the deal, it sounds like that guy was trying to get something for nothing. Good luck!

What's it's book price? I'm sure it gets tricky with the conversion but it looks like you've kept it in mint condition. I agree with TJ, good call on not taken the crooks offer, I think you'll do better. Hope a dog poops on his shoes for wasting your time.

I wish there was a blue book for modified vehicles but there isn't one. Many mobility shops use regular depreciation for the van type but not the modifications so it is complicated. I usually look at how much the mobility shops are selling the same vehicle and factor in whether they installed new brakes, tires etc... My vehicle is selling from $26-30,000.00 by mobility shops for about the same mileage. So who knows. This weekend I got three offers, but until they bring the cash to my door, I am sitting idle.
Got a phone call from Mobility Works' Corporate Buyer and he told me that their calculation puts the vehicle's worth at $16,000.00. However, given that I am such a loyal customer, they are willing to up their offer to $16,150.00. The corporate buyer says he is a former HDS Vans employee so he agrees with me that since Mobility Works took over things have not been the same. There is no consideration for return customers because in their eyes 'we are the only game in town'. Mobility Works has been buying out a lot of 'Mom and Pop' operations out there and they are now becoming the vehicle mobility monopoly across the U.S.
Until you become disabled, you have no clue what it costs to drive and own an accessible vehicle. My vehicle insurance doubled once I got the van and the hourly rate to repair it here in Florida is upwards of $105.00 an hour.

I looked up some avg. pricing and at $16,150.00 your getting hosed. I think DJ hit the magic number of no less than 20k. I understand they kinda got you over a barrel, really sucks.
Mobility works is a wheelchair accessible vehicle dealership right? I refer to any kinda vehicle dealerships as stealerships. You'll find a buyer at $20,000, just gotta be patient. Most people just want to get it over with it and they trade in their vehicles to dealerships but it's just not worth losing a few thousand dollars because you didn't wait for the right buyer. It sucks how these vehicles depreciate at the same rate as regular non modified counterparts because they cost way more to begin with and I'm sure we maintain our vehicles better since they're also our legs (second to our wheelchairs/mobility device) and the last thing we'd want is for our vehicles to break down.

Kelly Blue Book puts the van at under $9,000 with that year and mileage and obviously without the mods. I am not currently in the market but if I were looking I'd be offering to buy it for $16,000 or less because there are more things I would need to do it. Just my 2 cents worth.

Like what?
I have replaced many items so I am curious what you would need to do.
Inspiration comes and goes but when it arrives, oh how I cherish it.

Take the front seat out and add an EZ-Lock specifically for my chair. Get a tri-pin steering knob as I'm a quad. It would be about $2000-3000 worth of work which I would have no problem doing. It's actually comforting knowing I'll be able to get something I can work with under $20,000. I can not afford new vans which seem to start in the mid 40's. If I were serious right now I'm sure we'd be able to agree on a purchase price.
Thanks softballdad, I thought you were talking about replacing tires, brakes, etc... The items you would require are items that are specific to your situation. The dealers would charge you for those items regardless of whether you purchased a used or new van. I guess I am looking for someone who would use what I already have installed in my vehicle. I am including an EZ Lock that was never installed in the sale.
I wish you the best of luck califanna, I know that if I could afford it I would buy it. It looks very nice and well kept up. I know that new ones are very expensive when buying one with all of the mods you have on it. Again good luck, maybe someone on here is looking and has the resources to buy it.
