I'm sure most of you are aware of the promising epidural stimulation research that's been happening the last few years. It looks like Mayo Clinic is now doing trials as well!

The more researchers looking into this problem the faster they might find a cure or at least a way to bypass the damaged nerves. I am excited for the next generation as they might actually be able to get out of their wcs.
Did it say if the cord was completely severed? Did he already have some movement? Yes, that would really be wonderful,...to be able to raise and lower the leg and get b&b back. But I would like to know more about where they put the stimulator device. Is it outside of the spinal cord?
I wish that they would have asked me to take part in the trial. I was just up there 6 weeks ago.
tj, age has a lot to do with it. When I was in my 30s, I was a test subject numerous times but as I got older the calls stopped coming. Now the researchers are focused on how I am handling getting older with a spinal cord injury. How it affects me psychologically and physically?

Gee, how does it affect us as we age? Just feeling more wunnerful about it every day!
The one at University of Kentucky Louisville is being conducted by Dr. Susan Harkema. She's one of the first to discover this treatment and has had very promising results! If anyone here does participate in this trial they'd be very lucky.
