So, what is this drug supposed to do? I have 100 mg. capsules. I started with 2 capsules, 3 times a day. Then 3 capsules 3 times a day. Now 4 capsules 3 times a day. I still have no change in spasms/tingling in hands. Comments? Mel

It's suppose to help with the tingling, overall crappy feeling from the neuropathy. Has something to do with blocking nerve signals. It also has some sort of anti-depressant. This is what I've been told. I didn't google this, because of time. If I'm wrong in any of this someone will help me out. I've also been told to give it a couple weeks. Like I said in the other thread, it made my tingling twice as bad, I weened myself off it. Lyrica works better for me, and I don't believe there is any anti-depressant in it.
I belive Gabapentin was first designed for depression.
If you have no change in symptoms why do you continue with it? Also, it coms in 300 mg caps. It is usually advised to decrease slowly if you decide to do so.
Gabapentin has a pretty high ceiling when it comes to dosages if I remember correctly. I was on it when I first got injured, it takes a while for it to take. It helps with some of the peripheral neuropathy too. I didn't like it because it made me 'foggy' during the day. My memory wasn't as sharp and it affected me at work so I stopped taking it. I recently started taking Lyrica and it seems to work a bit better. Good Luck with it!
