Just wondering if anyone has a good hotel-room workout routine for people like myself that travel for work and can't always get to a gym/pool for cardio and strength training. There are plenty of websites that have hotel workouts, but many of the exercises are not practical for people with SCI. Ideally I'm looking for something that'll get my heart rate up, but is quick and can fit around work schedule. I'm T10 complete for reference. Any thoughts much appreciated!
I traveled for work too and am a T-10. I used exercise bands and the bed for push-ups, pseudo crunches, adaptive yoga positions, crawling and letting my lower half hang off the bed (to stretch out the hips). Many times accessible rooms have King beds so you have ample room to exercise. I would tie off the bands to door knobs and then close the door or I would tie it off to bed posts etc... I always carried knee pads to protect my knees. You can transfer to the floor for some of the exercises, but I didn't chance it because the floors are usually kind of disgusting in most hotels. I also tried to pick hotels that were in a level area so I could go out and wheel for exercise as well.
I also packed a small wooden reacher and rope so that I could pull down the pulley handle in a gym if there was room for me to transfer. I would then put the rope onto the bar and then I could pull it down to do reps.
Another thing I did when traveling is change up my diet so that I ingested good carbs (for energy) and lots of protein.
Granted I am a female so a male might give you different suggestions.
