Well, I tried to manage the AD at home for a couple of days, but finally went to the ERIC with a 210/120, after 4 shots of nitroglycerin. I have white cells in urine, low grade fever, and horrible pain in the peri-anal area. Sore spot on my bum, but finally feeling a bit better. On nitro patches, IV antibiotics, and moderate pain killers. Feel like crap, but abut better than yesterday. (just feeling sorry for myself right now Need a long nap.
Hello Jaylock. I had a feeling your urine infection was causing autonomic dysreflexia. The infection must have been quite bad to be on intravenous antibiotics, and to give you such high blood pressure. I experience exactly the same thing myself, but I don't allow my infections to get such a grip. I instinctively know when my urine is infected. I spasm, the urine is cloudy and I have a slight temperature. I immediately send off a sample to the path lab (I have a form signed by the doctor on standby). As I've indicated in previous posts, I try to wait until the laboratory is able to give me a definitive culture report, so that I know what bug I am dealing with and what antibiotics it is sensitive to. If the urine infection is particularly bad, I have antibiotics on standby. Good luck with your treatment and get well soon. By the way, thank you for sending the post from your hospital bed.

You worry us Jaylock, I do believe you may be waiting a tad too long before getting into the ER. Glad everything is under control. Your so strong, it sucks a infection can be so dangerous. Rest up
Jaylock, we haven't heard from you in a couple of days and wondered how you are? Are you able to receive these messages? We miss your input here. I hope you are doing well. Are the intravenous antibiotics working? Has your dysreflexia calmed down? Come on, girl, be well again.

She seems to be in hospital and doesnt have access to reply us.
Hi my good friends. Thanks for your concern and my apologies for not getting back to anyone sooner. But, I'm back! And feeling so much better. So, 9 days in the hospital. First two days they checked for tick borne disease from my ugly swollen bite, and a UTI, since I was spilling white cells and low grade fever. Had had my urine cultured only two days before being admitted, and sure enough, a blood culture and urine culture in the hospital showed no infection, so they stopped the IV antibiotics. I was put on nitroglycerine paste every 6 hours upon admission, and my BP stayed steadily around the 150/60/70s over 80s and 90s from Saturday to Friday afternoon, with the patch. I was still experiencing a sort of non-specific stinging, burning pain in the pelvic area, that might have been bladder or bowel. So, a three day regimen of colonoscopy prep to completely empty my bowels. No colonoscopy, though, just three days of liquid poo. What a mess. I'll leave it to your imaginations, but I'm still cursing the person who named the drink "go-lightly". Some sense of humour that bastard must have had. So, after three days of clear liquid only diet, and no relief from lack of stool, I finally asked if I could maybe get some protein, so I was upgraded to "full liquids". I'd never heard the distinction, but was very excited to find I could have tomato bisque. (hospital food is a subject for a different thread!) and I ate it with great relish. The massive stomach cramps I had the following morning was an indication that the bisque was not gluten free, and of course, on further investigation, it was not. So, the good part. A lovely urologist agreed to consult while I was in hospital, and after quite a bit of discussion he thinks I've been experiencing neurogenic bladder pain for months, which has been driving up my BP. We decided to see if the drug used to anesthetize the urethra during a UTI would make any difference, so I started taking prescription pyridium last Thursday night. By Friday morning my BP had already started to go down, and by Friday night they took me off the nitro patches. I was monitored for another twenty four hours, and was discharged on Sunday evening. Since then, I've been on the pyridium every 8 hours and my BP has not gone above 125/73 since I've been discharged. I think we're on to something. I have an appointment with a different urologist in the same practice tomorrow, but have seen this guy before and dont like him, so I'm trying to switch to the guy I saw in the hospital. In the meantime, I'm grateful for a quick appointment and anxious to find out if there's a long time treatment that will work for me, if that's the issue. If anyone has any insights into this sort of bladder pain, I'd love to hear anything you might know. Time now to catch up on all of your threads and find out how everyone's doing. I only had a tiny Iphone (I think it's a 4) in the hospital, with limited aps, etc. but thanks to all for your concern and kind thoughts.
