What do our members think of cranberry extracts ? I have just bought my first bottle after a friend of mine, who has been a paraplegic for 28 years, talked me into it, he swears by them. I can only try them I guess although I have yet to suffer from a UTI. Does anyone else use it ?

Butiki, I used pure cran juice after my first UTI. Make sure its the real thing, most supermarkets sell alot of sugar filled juice. If it tastes good you have the wrong stuff. This 100% stuff puckers you up worse than a really dry wine, mixed with a lemon. I believe I've read that you'd have to drink a bunch to have any effect, it's been awhile, I may be wrong. I can't see any harm in it though. I used to drink it at poker games instead of beer. It helped my game, or maybe it was lack of beer, somethin.... :lush:
Im sure i read somewhere that the acid in cranberry juice isnt good for the bladder...anyone heard of this?....i think il go google ..il be back with this one unless someone beats me to it
You are correct Lara. I went to my urologist and my bladder was burning all the time. A urinalysis indicated I had way too much acid in my system. He told me to drink all the natural lemonade I could tolerate and not to touch anything cranberry. He said I was too acidic and needed to be more alkaloid. Once I started with the lemonade, the results were almost instantaneous. I still drink lemonade almost daily.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

That's quite surprising isn't it Millard! Lαrα actually made a great post on urinary tract infections and cranberry juice found here. I only drink lemon water a couple times a week but I do get burning as well (May be never related, I'm not sure) so I'll try drinking more lemon water and see how it goes!
