My name is Victor and i'm from Brazil (sorry for my english.) I'm quad due a car accident since 2002.
I have now two big problems for me and trying to minimize...talking to people with same issues.
1- Chushion for high risk prevention. i have a Roho high profile but not work for me.
Which cushion protect as well as Roho? I stay seating for 7 hours then i make a break and seat again for anothers 7 hours.
Can u help me to find people like quads that stays seating almost all day without change positions?
Cushions here are very expensive, and I have to buy for testing. I'm intersting on 2 models from Ottobock : Terra Flair and Cloud but I dont know anybody who tested them.
Hi Glomer06. Welcome. For lots of info on your blood pressure dropping every time you eat, click on 'search' in the top bar. Then type in autonomic dysreflexia. We talk a lot about this. I use a Roho high profile cushion. Before that, I had an awful gel cushion, so the Roho is like 'heaven' to me by comparison. But I am a paraplegic, and you are a quad(?).
Eu fallo espanhol e un pouco de portugués. Bem-vindo
Hello glomer06. Welcome to the forum. I too use a Roho high profile cushion. As far as I know it is probably the best pressure relief cushion you can buy. However, I’d be most interested to hear from anybody who knows of a better cushion.
Regarding your blood pressure and the fact that it drops when you eat. This is a medical phenomenon called “post-prandial hypotension”. As soon as you eat, even the smell of food, or food in your mouth without swallowing, causes your blood pressure to drop, sometimes dramatically. I have the same condition. Do you know how low your blood pressure goes? It would be interesting to measure it before and after eating. An example of my blood pressure might be 110/65 dropping to 65/42 after eating. It has gone as low as 56/38. Such a dramatic drop doesn’t happen all the time, but it always dips after eating.
