Complaints about police, prison treatment of disabled people

DEFENCE lawyers working for the State Government have lodged a series of complaints about heavy handed police, court and prison treatment of disabled people.
Other issues raised by the commission include:
A MAN suffering from dwarfism being put in a prison bed so high he had to jump to the ground each day, injuring his back.
DEAF people arrested but not being made aware what is happening as they cannot hear what the officers say.
ASPERGER’S sufferers arrested as pedophiles for watching kids play in a park., as well as one individual pulling up to talk to a female pedestrian because he was obsessed with being friends with everyone.
A DEAF defendant forced by a court to appear by videolink, when he had told officials he could not lip-read video.
A DEAF man charged with assaulting police when he raised his hand to his ear because he could not hear them.
POLICE interviewing people who have no understanding of what they are being questioned about.
POLICE refusing to allow a deaf disqualified driver to have his hearing aids to listen to his court case.
