Hi everyone , how often do you cath at night? I bearly drink fluid about 3 hours before bedtime. So usually I don’t need to cath even if I sleep over 10 hours. I always set up an alarm to see whether I have to cath and roll myself though. However, I am afraid that these 8 to 10 hours without bladder empty will cause me a UTI someday .
And also, do you put some antiseptic soup on your wipes? I use this “ Hibiclens Antimicrobial Skin Liquid Soap” from amazon. It is pink and marks the wipes.
Ava- The basis of your decision should be the quantity you empty when you get up. If it is over 700 ml train yourself to get up in the middle of the night for a cath. usually you will produce more within 2-4 hours of going to sleep than later so you can schedule a longer stretch on the til end of your rest. Some would advise even 700 ml is too much.
Pretty much what tetra, says, you should find the answer in the amount that you empty on that first morning Cath. You need to be careful not to overstretch your bladder and most definitely, you dont want any urine to back up to your kidneys.
I can go 6 hours at night without catheterising but thats the maximum.
I can't comment on the other as I have never used that, I use baby wipes.

Yeah, I use pemper baby wipes. My nurse told me to put some antiseptic soup in it. Didn’t your nurse tell you this? I wonder whether it is ok just baby wipes only, as the soap is more irritated than without it and I don’t want to hurt the area after long term use.
I keep water near the toilet along with cath supplies and just rinse each time with about a pint of water. Occasionally I'll add a few drops of white vinegar yo get that squeaky clean feel. I honestly don't have as much confidence in wipes.
I step in the water, but the water has moved on...
I probably don't fit well in this topic because I only int. cath once every 2 days just to empty bladder. surprised more haven't replied.
Hi Sam , I can’t image how your bladder hold it or do you have a spasm bladder?
I pee normally except I don't empty bladder all the time so to prevent bladder infection I need to int, cath once every couple days to make sure I keep urine fresh in bladder. hoping to stop cathing altogether soon.

Does pee normally mean you don't even need to use your abs to press your bladder ? You are so lucky!
