Hello, I Was off all meds except for Bladder -Ditropan and then I told my Primary at Kaiser that it felt like someone was trying to pull my legs off at night. He put me on Clonazepam. I was on it for a few years but hated what happened if I missed it. Nightmares couldn't sleep. When my pain management Dr. Put me on Cymbalta and I missed a couple of days (looks just like one of my antibiotics) I was an emotional basket case. Seems like with Cymbalta my spasms are worse. Dr. Wanted to put me on Baclofen but not going there again. Cymbalta helps with pain, can't tell what's worse taking 1000 mg aceteminophin 2 x a day or more. Hate the drugs. Anyone take Clonzepam? I just weaned myself off and an trying to deal with my legs spasms.
Have you tried Kratom, mamazooms? It’s non-prescription and you have to pay for it yourself, but it doesn’t do the other harm to your system. Green Maeng Da strain is what I order.

So you tried baclofen at some point and did not like the results? You have had some ugly reactions! Inevitably different people's body chemistry will react differently to the same drug. I have a love/hate relationship with clonazapam. If I take it more often than 2/week the same dosage works less well, AND I get muscle pains. Since you live in CA, have you tried marijuana? Again, it works for some to dampen spasms.
Stretching the legs and hips before ed is helpful for me and sometimes I will do that in the middle of the night. I also avoid significant exercise up to 3 hours before bed. Legs seem to spasm more when they are tired. Lastly, foods that cause mea lot of gas inevitably lead to worse spasms. Most any discomfort increases spasticity.
I step in the water, but the water has moved on...

Peter tried clonazapam in the early days but it knocked him out - even a small dose. So - he swapped to amitriptyline at bedtime (very low dose) and that helps. It also makes him sleepy . This is some info from an MS site (they have a wealth of info about spasticity on MS Forums).
The other possibility is Diazapam (Valium) which is another sleep inducing drug but also helps spasticity. Again a small dose at bedtime. Or a combination of the two as advised by Peter's Neurologist (small doses). He has no carry over effects the following day.
Ah meds ... yeah ... I have been on one of of these *zepam drugs for 20 years. I started with lorazepam, temazepam, and finally clonazepam which must be the cheapest because I couldn't get the other meds anymore. So it’s been .5mg every night, which I increased to 1mg last year. I marry that with 1gr of metadone at night and it sends me to sleep the whole night. If I forget, I sleep fitfully and am not rested the next day. I so want to reduce the amount of chemicals I stuff in my body daily. I have an appointment with a pain doctor at end of April (took three freaking months to get the appointment set up). I hope he can help me lower or even get rid of some of my meds. I’m not holding my breath and figure that I’ll have to consult with a naturopath eventually and go the route vintage uses (or correct me if I assumed wrongly you used mostly herbal medicines, vintage).
CORRECTION: at night I take 1mg clonazepam with 5mg methadone. I had written 1gr methadone: strike that, please. Sorry for giving bad information.
My Grandmother was my first “nature and health” teacher. She had been a schoolteacher in South Texas. Next, I learned from two beloved but now deceased chiropractors. One chiropractor had a nutritionist on-staff, who also helped me. She is retired now. Hulda Clark’s books added a whole new dimension to my understanding of disease. She is now deceased. Then, I had the rare privilege to be treated by a Vietnamese doctor from a long line of Chinese herbal healers. He passed a test given in the US in the Chinese language and was ‘grandfathered’ as a natural doctor. Now his son owns a Chinese herb store where I shop. I also have a friendly relationship with a local herbalist and herb store owner that provides American and internationally obtained herbs.
Please let me know how the naturopath appointment goes.
This Naturopathic doctor tells the downside of his chosen career. “In a private practice setting, it can be very difficult to make naturopathic services affordable and accessible to patients. One issue is not all states accept insurance for naturopathic services. When naturopathic services are covered by insurance, the reimbursement is usually comparable to what a company may pay for the services of a nurse.“ www.naturopathicdiaries.com/should-i-go-to-naturopathic-school/
I have used clonazapam for sleep. Yesterday I bought a sample of a marijuana variety billed as good for sleep and it worked! I woke up with good energy.
