Any reasons why blood pressure would be dropping. I’ve been stable for the past year but all of a sudden now I’ve had it start to drop. Just leaning over in my wheelchair to pick something up off the ground triggers it
garciia20 , there could be several reasons for this to be happening, it could be related to SCI as an associated issue. To know if this is occuring due to it being SCI related issue can really only be confirmed by a medical practitioner, it is important to know what is the core reason for this being triggered.
“Blood Pressure: More oxygen is needed to correct this condition. Garlic is a good oxygen carrier. One of the greatest aids for low or high blood pressure because of oxygen starvation is deep breathing, which serves as a catalyst and helps the herbs react more rapidly. An immediate increase in circulation may be obtained by the use of cayenne and non mucus-forming foods. Grape juice as well as other juices rebuild and give endurance to the system. [SNH p.35]
Shock: Cayenne should be taken internally to equalize the blood pressure and insure that the internal functions will remain stabilized during the intense systemal distress. [SNH p.44]” www.herballegacy.com/Blood_Pressure.html
Lαrα, I got you. I just found it odd that it started acting up yesterday. Even just coming back up from a pressure relief would trigger it. Other than that I’ve had beautiful readings the last year. Wow can’t believe a year has flown by so quick, sorry back to conversation.vintage, wow, I’ve heard my parents say that about garlic but never tried it. I’ll have to find a way to get it down and keep it down.
Good, but I’m more impressed with cayenne (i.e., hot red pepper) than with garlic. And getting that down may prove to be even more of a challenge than garlic.
hello Garciia. An interesting post. What level is your injury? tetraplegics have an average blood pressure around 90/60. It varies. You may have post-prandial hypotension, which basically means your blood pressure crashes after eating. Having a totally empty bowel can affect blood pressure. You may find that after a hefty evacuation, your blood pressure might drop. It would be helpful if you would tell us exactly what your blood pressure is. I presume you monitor it. I won't go on about my blood pressure, which can be absurdly low. I'm very interested here to find the trigger mechanism for your low blood pressure, whether it is just naturally low and you have begun to notice it, what the blood pressure reading is and whether it is affected by food.
garciia20, there are several fctors that can trigger low blood pressure, what you are experiencing is a symptom of the underlying reason I would say. It is similar to someone getting out of bed too quickly and they feel dizzy due to the blood pressure dropping but the underlying would benefit from investigation just to rule out anything that needs medical attention.
In SCI, depending on your injury level, it can be a response from the autonomic nervous system due to dysfunction so a check up will help decipher if this is the case for you and why, if it has only recently started.
mikeq, I’m a c5 incomplete recovered to a c6-7. 80/50-116/60 and it’s pretty stable. Didn’t really check it very often myself for the same reason but kept a blood pressure cuff nearby just in case. I don’t recall what reading I had got when it was dropping, but enough to make me light headed, ears ringing, etc. Oddly enough it seems to have effected me only that day. In the past year it’s only done that maybe 2 other times and one of those times was because I was stuck in standing mode on my power chair while programming ( that was fun, I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel lol )
hello Garciia. It sounds like you've got postural hypotension (feeling dizzy when you get up from a seated position). I should think any tetraplegic would feel like fainting if they were not used to standing upright. Here's a synopsis of my blood pressure. First thing in the morning: diastolic in the 50s. 52/38 is not uncommon. It's like this for at least half an hour. I have to be tipped back several times in the chair. It gradually comes up and settled at around 95/55. Sometimes it's lower. If I eat anything, even half an apple, my blood pressure drops dramatically. It can go from 100/60 to 56/40 in just a few short minutes. This is called post-prandial hypotension. The opposite is also the case. I can have low blood pressure in the mornings and any afternoons the systolic could be in the 200 bracket. Dysreflexia is the bane of my life. But then again, so is low blood pressure. I could take medication to bring my blood-pressure up, but since it naturally rises after a while I don't bother. I've always got a little jar of nifedipine handy with a few cotton buds in case my blood-pressure rockets for one reason or another. I simply dab the end of the cotton bud into the nifedipine and swish it around under my tongue. There are things you've just got to learn to live with and that's the simple fact of it. I am a C6 complete.
lavender, drinking tea made from three roots -marshmallow root, gravel root, and hydrangea root- will clean out your kidneys and lower your blood pressure,...safely, I might add. www.drclark.net/disease-a-protocols/other-illnesses/high-blood-pressure “High Blood Pressure IN A NUTSHELL... I appreciate these herbs so much that I searched for their seeds for sale online this afternoon. Some, apparently, appear not to want to live in Texas.
