last night I awoke all wet and sweaty. the heater was not on but I awoke because I was cold and realized that the heater wasn't on and I was really sweaty. just curious, does anyone know what that might be a symptom of?
Sam it may be a manifestation of AD, or Autonomic Dysreflexia. If you have a blood pressure cuff test your BP when this happens. It likely was your body's reaction to being cold, odd s that seems, but with our nervous systems so utterly confused, what do we expect? I do not get AD often but will have short bouts when I get too hot, which is not unusual in our climate. In reaction to feeling even a little cold I get spasms. My entire lower body will go into spasms if I do not wake myself up quick quick. Then I get up for another blanket. AD can be dangerous if your BP goes too high so track this to find out. Just another gift from SCI...

im very fortunate and do not get AD, my bp only goes up to 140/85 now because im getting overweight
I deal with something similar to this. In my case everything below my injury will sweat like crazy. I have noticed that ot tends to happen of ive been sitting/laying in the same position for too long. Ive also noticed that sometimes happens when I jave to have a large BM. I am pretty sure that this is a symptom of AD.
Sam, I echo the words of Tetra. You have to be aware of any changes in your body, particularly sweating and feeling odd. It's possible that you are suffering from autonomic dysreflexia. You have high cervical injuries but I believe you are incomplete, so may not suffer from autonomic dysreflexia. I get it frequently, at least three times a week. I do not sweat but I feel a certain heaviness in my torso and throat and my pulse rate drops. I'm surprised at how many people on this forum do not realise they may be having a dysreflexic attack, or do not realise the dangers of dysreflexia. In fact some people seem unaware of the fact that autonomic dysreflexia even exists. I have a nifedipine capsules on the side, ready to be opened. In fact I've even got nifedipine laying in a small pool in a little dish, with a cotton bud handy so that I can dip it in and spread it under my tongue when necessary. The blood pressure gauge is on my desk, always on my desk. God dammit, I've even got an oxygen saturation metre and a thermometer and urine deep test strips, too. I know what my oxygen saturation levels are, my pulse and my blood pressure at various times of the day. One could say it's a little bit obsessive. Obsessive is my nature. But I'm still alive and I'm still well and all my vital organs are fine at the time of writing. Can't guarantee what they will be like by the end of the evening, though
this is an older thread but I appreciate the responses, I only get this now once every 6 months or so, only happens at night, I don't think its AD because my heart rate is normal, when it happens.
