June 12th was my 39th anniversary of my SCI. Why am I mentioning this? Doctors told me my life expectancy was 35, would not be able to have kids, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm 53 now, in good health, have 2 beautiful girls, and just got promoted to a senior level position. I give a lot of credit to my family and my wife for taking good care of me all these years. No skin ulcers or pressure sores which is key. And weed of course. Life doesn't end at SCI it's a new beginning.
Amazing softballdad, that’s what I like to hear! As a C6 complete quad I was told the same thing too (shorter life expectancy) so I hope I can prove that wrong. I’m almost 23 now and still got a long way to go!

I have no doubt my life expectancy on a research scale is shorter, but that tells me (us) nothing at all about our individual life expectancy. Statistical averages are just that. No one knows how long they, individually, will live. The only important thing has always been to live well NOW, and to expect enough time to finish whatever you feel called to do. Otherwise you would not have been called to do it. If you don't know what that is, then you are called to find it, and then do it.
