Question for my fellow quads or anyone with spinal cord injury who deals with spasticity. I can’t stand this question but I have to ask. Who knows about marijuana and spasticity? Does it help with spasticity in sci as some state?
I use both weed and baclofen. The weed (I live in California) is great for sleep and general relaxation but when I tried to reduce my baclofen I went back to being woken up with spasms. I have to say it does not help ME that much with spasticity, though it helps some.
I used baclofen for a while, then stopped and had increased spasms. I decided to let it play out because it is a Gaba drug and has a risk for tolerance to develop. After two weeks the spasms subsided. Lately, I've been thinking of going back on it because my spasms have returned with vengeance. I also can get medical weed or CBT oil. I've noticed weed helps with pain in general but I've never used it for spasms. I'll have to experiment.
i vape cannabis and it helps me mostly for pain and discomfort but also helps reduce spasticity, if you really want to relax muscles really well try vaping cbd oil. it really helps with muscle relaxation and it also made me sleepy. i have tried 8 to 1 cbd oil, 8 parts cbd to 1 part thc, approx 85% reduction in thc amount in oil.

I'm so sorry for the late reply. If you're still trying to figure it out, here's what's been working for me. I'm a hyper spastic case. My injury site Cervical 3,4 & 5. A set of nerves to my thorasic spine affects my legs.
From the medical marajuana store I get the Indica buds highest in CBD possible and vape it. Results are only a few minutes. This version is very relaxing. I only take 3 hits for relief. It's not a get high formula, just relaxing. If I take more I fall asleep. When my muscles are really stiff, I stretch or massage the knots out first. If I don't, my legs get jumpy. Best wishes you find the right plan. ❤️
softballdad, sam, hey! I was able to order legal cbd oil. I got it just in time, by mail, for a bad gall bladder pain. Just a few drops under my tongue and the pain melted. I didn't feel "good", but the relief was something to give thanks for. I know how to do a liver cleanse. Before my accident, a liver cleanse wasn't a major undertaking. It eliminates gallstones for about a month. But now, T9 incomplete, a liver flush is very complicated. So, being able to delay a cleanse until the best day for it is important, and that's what the cbd oil gives me.
I'd been eating apples, drinking apple juice, taking kratom, taking parasite killing herbs (even male fern and quassia) , taking oregano oil (in a capsule), taking liver cleansing tea,... and even ibuprofen, which I hate to take. The cbd oil is so fast and so user friendly that it's my new best friend.

the cbd stuff works for muscle relaxation mostly imo, and doesnt help much with pain, but it seems to help you, which is great.
sam, I can see how hemp cbd oil could be too weak for actual spinal column pain. But my pain is neuropathy, gallstones, pancreatitis, arthritis, and deep vein thrombosis. So, yes, for those it's a big help. Texas doctors are under extreme scrutiny for any Marijuana-type prescription. I should qualify to receive it, but giving out the prescription puts the doctor under the "magnifying glass". I would first have to take the "normal" medications and have them "not" work in order to qualify for cannibis. The rules have it so that I would have to suffer repeatedly, and I would have to be under surveilance while suffering,... probably in a hospital or nursing home,... before the doctor could prove a "need" for the marijuana. Of course, I am adamantly opposed to me going to a hospital or nursing home. Without a diagnosis, I can't get the prescription.
