Do you guys prefer power assist for a manual wheelchair or a power wheelchair? And if you chose either, why did you choose that over the other? I'm a C5/6 and don't know which would be better for me. Thanks!!
Manual plus electric assist gets my vote. It opens up the most options.
Using a manual for day to day stuff means your getting some exercise, you can get lifted up steps if necessary, getting into any car is no problem.
Then if you’ve got a big day or you want to try a bush walk, a farmers market that’s on grass or whatever you can slap on the electric assist and your good to go.
I have a Triride which attaches to the front of my chair and raisers then castors off the ground. It’s got cruise control, a good disc brake and reverse so it can go almost anywhere. Put some mountain bike tyres on your wheelchair and run them at a lower air pressure to smooth out the bumps and it’s even better..
noone gave a good answer but it depends on you. I am c5,,6,7 incomplete and i use a manual but a power chair for the backyard as its steep incline to get back there. I like the power assist options and would love to get a firefly or something similar. power assist wheels makes my chair wider which is not good for me.

Do you find it easy to attach and detach? have you travelled with it on a plane?
regular79, There is a bit of a learning curve but once you practice a bit it’s very easy. Mostly it’s just about lining up straight so the two arms of the frame don’t jam in the clamps.

Firefly will not help you on steep inclines, grass with an incline, and loose grave can be a challenge.
That’s why the reverse gear is so handy. You get much better traction in reverse as all your weight is pushing down on the wheel. So long as you can turn enough to comfortably look over your shoulder anyway..
I am very happy with manual chair, adding SmartDrive for long stretches to save my hands, crippled with RA, and adding FreeWheel for runs on grass. The two add-0ns combined are great for long outdoor stretches. All can easily be loaded by me into standard car, mine is a Honda Element. A power chair requires more than I can afford to drive independently.

It would be nice to have both but does your insurance give you a choice?
