sorry for the pause. After the SCI unit last year, learning to live with ISC bladder, now its more routine in my life again.
Learned, that the urine is sometimes not clear, little cloudy, without having panic and UTI. Just learning to live with this.
So my "mind" is going back to the bowel problem again. I am on peristeen again, since my "car stool accident" last year.
Do it every day. In the SCI unit they told me: When I was a abled man, I had 1-2 BM every day. So this is the reason to use BP every day.
I fill 3 x 400 ml in my bowel. Works good 75%.
But some days I feel: The transverse colon area has constipation. And then, some days later, stool comes out like a little explosion. Its clear, the transverse colon is suddenly free - and it "goes".....
Thats not easy in daily life. The fear, the next accident is coming (but I am prepared - having diapers...... hrhrhrhr).
So my question now, finally:
Makes it sense, to empty the transverse colon with laxans or other tricks? I dont need this laxans things, cause my stool is not hard. But just a BP to have this obstipation in the transverse colon is stopped.
Ahhh, there is onother thing I feel, when the transv. colon is full: After eating (little portions too) I feel sooooo full. Like I had 5 Hamburger or more.
In case of overflow-incontinence using laxatives makes sense to get rid of constipation higher up. Have you already tried any?
During my journey I have used Movicol (didn't work at all), Laevolac (bad taste if taken on a regular basis), NEDA-Würfel (lead to cramps and no release), Dulcolax (massive cramps, nothing else), Glauber's salt (worked well, bad taste) and milk of magnesia (not available in Austria and Germany; you have to buy it online or buy the powder and mix it with water).
Seeing a continence nurse might help although it might be difficult to find (a good) one. (Ich muss hier einräumen, dass Gespräche mit Kontinenzschwestern manchmal in ein ziemliches Kasperltheater ausufern können...)

Hm, yes, tried Dulolax and Laxoberal drops. They help - massive. If take this, I cannot plan go outside. Suppository doesn't help, cause the transverse colon is to high for them.
Tried like you too: Movicol (didnt work). Perhaps Glaubers salt could be a try........
Kasperltheater - yes know it. Ask 5 nurses - you get 5 different answers.
Laevolac and Glauber's salt worked best for me. But they produce a lot of tartar (Zahnstein) when using them on a regular basis. That's why I changed to milk of magnesia. Glauber's salt and Laevolac work within 90 minutes using the right dose.
Although I cannot force a bowel movement with milk of magnesia it helps to improve bowel function (Ich meine damit, dass ich meinen Stuhlgang so zumindest ganz gut regulieren kann.)
Recently I bought a tin of Epsom salt (Bittersalz). But I have not tried it yet.
Goisgo- I have a massage tool I use during the night, and first thing in the morning, to encourage all parts of the large intestine to move along. While I have adequate use of my hands I find the tool more convenient and effective, because it vibrates. Mine is something like this, and they are not expensive. if it does not work you will find other uses for it!
There are cordless variations on this but it makes them heavier, which I do not like. My schedule of it works for me because I am up to urinate 2 to 3 times/night. Another simple thing you can try is to lay on your left side for awhile before you get up, using gravity to help move the transverse colon. I breathe deep into the belly while on my left side and can feel things move down the transverse colon. One could massage it in that position as well.
When I was inpatient, there was a masseur who treated my bowel problems with a so-called colon massage, a very intense massage that focuses on a few points in the abdomen. He was the only one who used this technique although physiotherapists should also know this.
Unluckily, I didn't find another masseur or PT who was willing to use this technique.
I almost forgot that. Massage is a good alternative to any other treatment method.

Good luck.
tetra, thank you very much! Order this tool, found the same model on a german portal. Sounds absolutely good - think this could work!

Best wishes !
Let me know if it helps.
I step in the water, but the water has moved on...
tetra , what head to you use for the bowel massage? there are 6 different heads for this.....
Best wishes ! ^^
I use it over clothing and the simplest rubber head has seemed best. It occurred to me that our bowel histories are so different, as are our injuries, that you would be smart to begin using this idea just a few hours before your BM. I know you will not want to risk an accident in the middle of the night. Also, use the idea of laying on your left side.
