does anyone know of or have some type of device that helps u to stand after falling on ground? reason I ask is because I live alone and fall sometimes, I think I am bothering others when I ask for help and sometimes I get up ok but other times no and would like to be independent.

I've wondered the same thing because when I trip and fall, I need something to grab and pull myself up on......I usually crawl to something but I've wondered what I would do if I was in a big open space
Edited to add.....ok, you asked about falling out of bed and not being able to get back up, what about keeping some steps next to the bed so you can get back onto it in case you fall out of bed again? I'm assuming you can crawl?
sam, - we had something quite like this below. TBH it wasn't brilliant for Peter as he had little upper body strength (it has improved over the last couple of years) but we know someone who used it quite effectively to help with getting up after a fall. It is designed to help you get out of chairs but the "ladder" bit give you something to aid pulling yourself up from the ground. There is an inflatable cushion called The Elk that was demo'd for Peter once - but sadly beyond our means as it was around £1500 to buy. I have included a video if you are interested - and probably more for carers to get someone off the floor.

Bev,
My dad walked with 2 sticks for a long time and was barely mobile. He had a recurring dream of falling while out walking on a salt pan. Nothing to pull oneself up with for miles. Talk about nightmares!

my bed sits about 3' off floor, so its hard to get up near my bed, its easy on my couch bed because its only 18" off floor so I am able to get to knees and get on couch bed easier. so I think I will have to fall near my couch for now on. its just a matter of loosening my muscles in left leg and getting more strength in left hand and it will get easier to get up eventually. don't want to spend more than $100 on anything like this.

Would a block step help to get you back onto your bed? They sell those things cheap enough on Ebay. When you said that you can get onto your couch bed which is 18", I was thinking if you had a step which was that size on the side of the bed, it could help. And if those block steps on Ebay arernt big enough, maybe you could make one, thats if your hands are good enough to hold a drill?

my room is only 12 x12 ft so it probably wont fit withpowerchair ill figure something out eventually.
I also found this video about The Raizer chair - and although it is way out of price range for most personal users (Around $4000 plus I think) , I thought I would share as it's a really nifty looking piece of equipment and quite a simple idea really.
Both were excellent, moco . Thanks. Now I need a “third world” knock-off that I can afford.
Don't we all vintage , I am sure we will all be very interested if your discover anything
Sorry sam, - neither of these things are an answer to your original request. But it shows that money, though not everything is a HUGE help if you need adapted equipment.
