Was wondering if anyone else who is on Gabapentin has had a call from the doctors. I had a call last week saying that the said drug is now a controlled drug and when I get the prescription in future I will need photo ID every time. Now I normally electronically get my meds from Tesco chemist but if that's to continue Tesco will have to collect the prescription in person not electronic. What a pain the only photo ID I have is passport and I don't want to have to take that out in case I lose it. Wouu be interested to know who else has been to the same.
Pregabalin and gabapentin are to be reclassified as Class C controlled substances from April 2019. Apparently some people have been abusing the drug by mixing it with opioids. God knows how anybody in their right mind would want to use these drugs for pleasure.
catheterboy,Peter takes pregabalin (very similar to gabapentin) which is also now in the controlled drug category. The only difference for us in Greater Manchester is that I now need to sign for it when I pick it up on his monthly prescription run. No ID needed.
