Hey there everyone! I had a tumor removed from my spinal cord a T6 in 2008. I was able to regain enough sensation in my feet to balance enough to walk with a cane. Now fast forward 11 years and I’ve been noticing more and more that my balance is getting worse because of the loss of feeling in my feet. Is this what happens over time? Has this happened to you? Is there anything that will help the feeling return? Any advice, thoughts, suggestions, or comments are surely appreciated!
From my own personal experience, no, this isn't what can happen over time, Ive been a walker now for 20 years and I havent noticed any decline in sensation anywhere on my body. If I had, I'd be getting very worried and would immediately be going to see a specialist to get scans done. Please don't ignore any changes that you're having.....by the way, I'm a similar age to you, I'm 54 and although I'm noticing changes in my body due to menopause, I havent had any changes due to my SCI
Oh my gosh! I am just seeing the answers from you two! I thank you very much! I’m scheduling an MRI right now! Thank you again! Penelope
Please let us know your results and even if the MRI is clear, speak to someone about your loss of feeling and find out what the cause is, you don't want it getting worse and worse
I agree with Tarabev and Tetra. Although there is day-to-day variability, I have never experienced a trend toward degeneration in the past 13 years since injury. Let us know how your MRI goes!
