Hello, I've received my MRI results and have extensive degenerative changes in my cervical spine and in 2 months time I'm going to have surgery and have between 3-5 fusions fitted to my cervical spine and also have the compression on my cervical spinal cord decompressed. I also have degenerative changes in my lumbar spine and am in constant pain, I experience problems sleeping. Will my GP issue me now with a neck brace to help manage with my symptoms until I have the operation?
I’m thinking about the name of our forum, “inspiredsciforum”. Inspired Spinal Cord Injury Forum. It just says “injury”, not paralysis. mab has told us about his/her injury, but usually here, we are focused on the paralysis which is often associated with a spinal cord injury. So, Mab, we are truly sorry for your pain, spinal degenerative changes, and the fusion surgery that you are facing. Others here may have been through a similar ordeal and may have some good suggestions for you. Sadly though, we here have mostly “found each other” because something went terribly wrong and we now have some degree of paralysis,... to go with our “spinal cord injury”. Best wishes on the procedures you face.
