Diabtetes

My own journey started and worsened due to epidural shots. Cortisone is known to be bad for sugar levels. But I would be interested in whether it could be related to paresis or paralisis also.

My husband Peter did r0hbart, - but I think it was probably related to weight increase and less activity. He was always a pretty good weight before but less activity (and probably more comfort eating) made him put on a lot of weight in the first couple of years following the op that left him with very restricted mobility. He had no diabetes symptoms but routine tests showed his blood sugar readings as way way over what they should have been.
Being a sensible man (and having a bossy wife) he adjusted his eating by cutting out sugars and most carbs and lost well over 2 stones. He is now in the pre diabetes ranges and has been for almost 2 years. He did have a blip with glucose levels around the time he had steroid injections for arthritic hips - but they told him this was normal
I guess there could be other factors at play but our thinking is that Peter's type 2 diabetes resulted from the usual reasons why many middle aged people get it. Weight gain coupled with inactivity. Though I am sure there could be other reasons alongside this.
