Hi everyone,
I'm a T6 paraplegic. I've been paralyzed for the last 9 years and have had family helping me bathe, get dressed, do my bowel program and get in and out of bed. Soon, however, I'm going to need someone else to help with things. Does anyone have any ideas of how to find someone to help with this sort of thing?
You got to be proactive..where do you live?? I live in Northern California and it has a large Fijian community who do caregiving. I just ask any whom I bump into, and they are reliant to refer me to another Fijian caregiver. They are close community, that even a pastor of their church can find you a caregiver.Try putting up flies in a community college (I think you’ll find experience and reliable people in an community college than a University) in your area, but I think this current pandemic makes it complicated reaching out, as most campuses are close. If you have another friend in a wheelchair, ask him/her if there caregiver knows one. Your social worker should be your last resort.
