I have been going to the same gas station/convenience store for 20 years. I called them when I moved here to see if they would come out and fill me up and they said yes. They have always had 2 people working so one could stay in the store while the other came out to fill me up. Today I was very low and needed to fill up. I drove up next to the pump at 7am and called them like usual and was told she couldn't leave and they only have 1 person on at a time now. I couldn't believe it. Thankfully a good samaritan gave me a hand and I got to work on time. I told her she would have good karma the whole day. I wonder what her name is and how her day went. It's good to know there are still people in this world willing to help you out when you need it. I know many of the people there by name but won't see them again. There is another place I can go by my work but it is still a bummer losing something you relied on for a long time.
Gosh, this is a sad thing. I do find many generous souls but it is awkward to ask for favors. I use a busy station with a policy of responding to disabled drivers. Fortunately I found it near my house.
I step in the water, but the water has moved on...
