When I do the search you suggest, I see a focus on Dr. Justin Brown doing nerve transfers to regain hand function. If that's what you were referring to, it's nothing new. I actually spoke to him several years ago about possibly getting this procedure for myself. I even consulted with local neurosurgeons who touched it me extensively and determine I didn't have enough functional nerves to really make a difference in my hand.
