I found this article you all might find interesting. The thing with this is the guy that wrote the note was doing it in good intention thinking that an able bodies person was parked in the disabled parking spot but then again, he was clueless as to who the driver was, etc. What do you think?
The wife of a disabled man has won revenge after an anonymous stranger left a furious note on her husband's BMW, accusing him of stealing a handicapped parking spot in the US.

Two wrongs don't make a right! If the disabled BMW took offence at the note left by the well intentioned passer-by, then he is no better (or worse).
The driver should have viewed this as a well intentioned person considering the well-being of disabled individuals as that's obviously the fact of the matter. Did the driver have a current permit displayed on his windscreen? Was it clearly visible?
I'm ALWAYS looking for people misusing disabled parking spaces, and confronted a women who appeared to be ambulant and not displaying a current permit. She took offence and pulled the permit out of her glove box, so I explained that it needed to be clearly in view from outside of her vehicle.
I'm still reasonably sure she was misusing a permit, but at least she got the message that I was about to photograph her car using Parking Mobility, and that she would have been fined had I done so.
thenextstep, you're right. They really shouldn't be getting defensive over this issue as the person that left the letter in the first place did that with good intention. Although they should have known who was driving before making assumptions I think the BMW owners were a bit over sensitive (especially the female). It says that the parking pass was hanging from the rear view mirror.
I also hate it when people park in these spots when they're not suppose to or clearly aren't disabled. I was this way prior to my accident as well. I remember checking out the Parking Mobility website, that's a really useful system! Good way to prevent people from parking wrongly over and over

Be careful with that camera, you confront the wrong person, you may loose some teeth. It's pretty hard to judge if someones truly handicapped, being ambulant is no key sign of missusing a placard. I walk pretty well, with pants on you might not know the difference. I haven't checked out your link yet. I will.
My pet hate is AB's parking in disabled spots, only yesterday I went to our shopping centre, we have 5 disabled parking spots in the underground car park, theses park are usually full of cars with no permit, anyway as I was getting out of my car, after finding two of theses spots vacant, a car pulled into the spot next to me with no permit, I saw red and told the poor lady what I thought, she then leaned over and pulled her permit out of her glove box, never felt so stupid in all my life, I did apologize profusely
Butiki, don't feel bad for yourself. You only did it in good intention so there's no harm done. Hopefully the lady saw that as well and carried on unlike the wife/girlfriend of that disabled BMW driver.

I understand what you're saying, and although I'm a pacifist by nature nowadays, I'm a Service veteran, stand 6'2" and weigh 100kgs, very little of which is fat, so it would take an extremely fit and adventurous individual to be confrontational and try to remove my teeth.
Besides, if they're actually disabled, they'd be pretty naive not to realise that I was acting in their best interests, and of course I'm happy to explain why I'm taking pictures of their vehicle, irrespective of whether or not they have a disability.
In fact, the bigger & fitter they look, the more I try to make them ashamed of themselves for potentially putting a genuinely disabled person at risk.

I do my best DJ. It isn't just a fetish of mine.
My daughter is a C0 ventilator dependent quad, and idiots illegally parking in disabled parking spots often means she has to be unloaded into traffic flow regions of car parks, into adverse weather with exposure to cold, heat or rain, and often has to be conveyed some distance through traffic to get to the destination.
And of course she isn't the only person in the area who's severally disabled. And these ignorant AB morons think that they have a right to park wherever they wish. I've got news for them.
I just found out that I can get a temp. handicap place card. For 3 months now I have been having people give me a cart to help me walk to and from stores and it is really hard when you have to park towards the end of the parking lot. It is hard to say I need one, I have always been strong and self dependent, everyone relied on me. I don't want to get one but I know right now I need it.
da4phipps, if you gotta do it then you gotta do it. I know it sucks not being able to do what we were able to before but we're going to have to adapt and do what works best. Don't worry, when I was still new to my injury I was the same way but over time you'll end up accepting everything and moving on
Thanks. I keep trying to remember that I am not paralized from the neck down like they thought I was going to be. I have come so far by holding my head high and seeing the Dr face who did this to me in every physical therapy exercise I have to do....and it makes me want to pull harder just to rub it in his face.

That's exactly it da4phipps! Keep up that positive attitude and you'll be able to rub it in his face big time!

da4phipps....as DJ says..make things easier for yourself, there no need to struggle when you dont need to. We have all had some degree of independence taken away in different degrees but once you accept this..you can move on and forwards...
