I'm a C4/5 for 20 years. My every other day bowel is left side on bed with 1-2 suppository insertion, wait for half hoour and caregiver will do manual evacuation, then wait for 10-15 min for 3-4 rounds of digital stim. It used to work OK with total time about 1.5-2 hour. I do have AD with hypertension and sweating. But for recent years I feel my sensation for the bowel part is back. I now kinda know the all the procedures especially the digi stim with the motion in anus and it is very difficult to endure. Make me sick all day on my bowel day. I tried to push the bowel myself by coughing and deep breathing and caregiver help me with stomach massage but still not enough to move full bowel. And to make things worse I sometimes need the digital stim to expel gas from belly too. With sensation back I now sometimes can feel the accident by still to late for caregiver to transfer me to BP. Anyone have similar situation and any suggestion? Thanks
My injury is C5 incomplete (ASIA-D). I found the suppository and digital stimulus to be difficult and ineffective. I long ago switched to a warm water enema. This seems to allow movement from the transverse colon to the colon (usually within 15 minutes) and also greatly softens the excrement, allowing it to drain a great deal of it without pushing. I am able to push out the remainder at this stage. All done in 30 to 45 minutes. I hope that helps.

Thank you. I'll let my caregiver to give it a try.
