Greetings
I have suffered with sleep paralysis for nearly 40 years now and I am currently writing a book on the subject. One aspect of the condition is the primal fear that is associated with an episode. I used to think that it was the feeling of being completely immobilized that caused the fear. I would like to know if there is anyone here who is paralyzed that also suffers from sleep paralysis and would like to share their experiences with it. I mean nothing but respect and I'd be grateful for any input you may have to give.
A couple of years ago I had different periods of acceptance and declined the fact that some of my nightmares were just nightmares. In some sense, I felt my sleep paralysis as an attempt of some kind of monster to kill me and eat my soul. My first mistake was trying to use melatonin without consulting a doctor. Hopefully, I finally went to a psychotherapist to talk with him about my problems (in my childhood I heard how a neighbor was killing his wife and how she screamed before my father did not call the police). That scream was my fear I tried to enclose within myself for a long time.
Hopefully, the therapy started to help me. I am still visiting my therapist and I am trying to work with my fears and nightmares. The inscribed modafinil also helps me to fight with obstructive sleep apnea I have.

I have not personally experienced sleep paralysis, but I have read several theories regarding it. It is also associated with different nightmares. People with such sleep conditions often end up not sleeping because of fear and are known to use nootropic supplements to stay awake during the daytime.
