Anareli Medrano is just like other eighth-grade students at Scott Collegiate Academy, a middle school program in Galveston.
She enjoys math class. She likes listening to music and watching TV in her spare time.
The one thing that makes her different is she has cerebral palsy, a physically debilitating condition that affects her speech and motor functions.
Regardless of this challenge, she is an active member of the Scott student body. She earns good grades, gets along well with others, and doesn’t let her diagnosis stop her from doing anything she puts her mind to, including running for homecoming queen of her eighth grade class.
