Many of you know that I enjoy going to the bar, and enjoy a drink or two... or ten Since I've been going to the bars, I've had trouble with having my wheelchair leaned on, causing a couple flip-overs, people touching me, getting hit on, and the worst one: people touchin my hair! I have not been able to go out and not be touched unwantedly. It's this weird thing that people rudely think it is ok to touch me simply because I am in a wheelchair. And I've also had so many people ask me why I'm in a chair. Even after telling them either a. I don't want to talk about it, or b. A simple answer of, "cliff jumping", they proceed to follow me trying to get all the details! I have had it! Thankfully, the bar got security personnel, who told a guy off for me last night. I am fed up with the rude behavior of these people, and plan to go out again tonight and lay down the law! They need to understand this crap is NOT OK!!! How are your guys' experiences at the bar/club?
To be honest Knight...i would change the kind of bar you go to....on occassions ive been approached when out but ive just put that down to the norm but the guys have been polite and ive said no politely back.
I couldnt cope going to a bar where sleazy guys behaved that way...so tbh i dont go to bars really. I hate my personal space being invaded..and it isnt often, maybe i let off that...'dont you dare look' i dont know..
and my hair being touched by strangers...euww no...id have something strong to say about that
Try somewhere different Knight where you can enjoy an evening out without worrying about being bothered
Hi Knight, that's why I usually drink at home, I hate being in crowds and explaining why I'm in a wheelchair 50 times a night, so it's easier and cheaper to drink at home.

there can be two reasons why people are asking why you are in a chair: 1. they are curious and would like to know politely ..... there is nothing wrong with that. 2. if they are drunk and just bumping into you and rudely asking you in the wrong sense, then you have the right to slap the crap out of them .... just kidding. You have a right not to answer.
.... it takes two to tango .... if you are sweet, people will be sweet back ..... if you are rude, people will be rude back. However, when you mix alcohol into the mix ... everything gets screwed up and lines are crossed.
At one point in the night last night, I pushed a guy away from me by his face... like, literally, my hand over his face. Otherwise I had a good time. No one bothered me, and I had all the other regulars on my side
