Thank Lara, you a so right, when trying to do things I find I have to sit down and think about how I can make the task easier like maybe using some thing to sit on or hang an object up with rope to work on it. It all just takes a bit longer but keeps you brain working trying to find ways around problems and perhaps takes your mind of you own disabilities for a while and gives you a boost after achieving it.

So true, I like to think it brings out the 'MacGyver' in me! There are some things I may never be able to do the same way as I used to but it doesn't mean I can't do them at all.
I have been reading topics on natural medicines and formulas. It is interesting to find improvements in nerve damage and the possibilities on nerve repair. One of the discoveries that has fascinated me is Nerve Growth Factor and that Lion's mane mushroom stimulates production of Nerve Growth Factor by human astrocytoma cells. My Chinese friend mentioned that you can find these mushrooms at Traditional Chinese Medicine shops and herbal medicine shops in many parts of China town.
Another discovery is by from Boston's Children Hospital where a team of scientists have combined 3 elements or factors to create nerve growth & regeneration. According to Dr. L. Benowitz , head of the team that made the discovery, the 3 combined factors produced synchronicity which translates into a 10 fold increase of nerve regeneration compared to one factor or pathway. The one pathway means just one ingredient.
According to one company, all 3 factors are possible with natural means and can be combined into 3 ingredients. The 3 factors are 1. cyclic AMP 2. inosine 3. P13K activity – possible with herb supplement. These ingredients are now prepared into a remedy. The data and explanation is at their website follownaturesway.com/nerve-regeneration.html
However, the formula is not for conditions where there is active damage of nerves, it is a formula where the cause of damage to nerves are not present (for example, nerves damage by accident or damage caused by virus and there is no more virus.)

hi i am new to this page i had gun shot injury at l3 level 11/22016 after injury there was no movement below hip joints but sensation was present upto knee joints i operated within 12 hours the neurosurgeon said we removed fractured peaces of bone and done duruplasty he told me that about 50% of cuada equina nerve roots were transected after 11 months of injury hip extension and flexion are normal knee flexion is also normal righy knee extension is about normal but left knee extension is impaired foot drop is present bilateraly sensation is present upto ankle joints i can walk with right AFO left KAFO with walker i need your opinion about cuada equina neeve regeneration and recovery upto which level i will be recovered can i walk with craches improvement become occured day by day

mohammadhashim123, Hard to say what or how much you'll recover, nerves heal very slowly, and everyone has a different outcomes. I wish you well and my opinion is exercise is key to a better outcome.
Thought it was time to add to this thread. First thing I learned after waking up in the ICU post op is that every case is unique, no two are the same. I was told early on that the recovery I make will mostly happen in the first 18 months, depending on who you listened to. Post op I was paralyzed from the waist down, could not even feel or wiggle my toes. Had cancer in T5, spinal fusion T2-T7, compression of the sc.
I am now just over 2 and a half years post op and I am still recovering. I know the difference between healing pain and normal day to day nerve and muscle pain. Every now and again, usually when I am walking, I feel a pin prick next to my spine, and I know it is a nerve re-connecting. Soon after feeling these healing pains something will improve, like my balance, ability to walk up and down stairs etc.
Love hearing stories of people still recovering years after they were injured, gives me a lot of confidence.
And here is an Abstract about P13K, another ingredient that Kymbry listed. europepmc.org/articles/PMC4796901/ Sci Rep. 2016; 6: 23459. Go to: Abstract Estrogens act in the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus (VMH) to regulate body weight homeostasis. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying these estrogenic effects are unknown. We show that activation of estrogen receptor-α (ERα) stimulates neural firing of VMH neurons expressing ERα, and these effects are blocked with intracellular application of a pharmacological inhibitor of the phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinase (PI3K). Further, we demonstrated that mice with genetic inhibition of PI3K activity in VMH neurons showed a sexual dimorphic obese phenotype, with only female mutants being affected. In addition, inhibition of VMH PI3K activity blocked effects of 17β-estradiol to stimulate energy expenditure, but did not affect estrogen-induced anorexia. Collectively, our results indicate that PI3K activity in VMH neurons plays a physiologically relevant role in mediating estrogenic actions on energy expenditure in females.
This is an Abstract in another ingredient that Kymbry lists above in this Thread. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25173738 Curr Opin Genet Dev. 2014 Jun;26:116-23. doi: 10.1016/j.gde.2014.07.008. Epub 2014 Aug 30. Inosine in DNA and RNA.
hi i am new to this page i had gun shot injury at l3 level 18 months ago now i walk with right afo and left unlocked kafo with walker improvment is still running upto which level i will be recoverd. some times i feel burning and jerking in my foot it is untolerable what shoud i do is it a sign of nerve regeneration? how long the recovery time for cuada equina injury tow years or more

I was told a year, then two. I've heard many people say they are still getting improvements five ,six years in. All you can do is work hard and hope for the best. Are you on any medication for the pain?
Hi Mohammad. Welcome. I can't walk at all. In the hospital and nursing homes, doctors gave me Baclofen for my spasms. But Baclofen does brain damage and nerve damage, so I quit taking it. I wish I'd never taken it. And I have burning in my legs, too. Some days are worse than others. Constipation seems to make the burning and spasms worse. Is the herb Kratom legal in your country? It helps with burning and jerking without doing any harm to your brain and nerves.
