Yeah Quebec has a great snow removal system sherry! I remember I was there one winter and noticed that they actually remove the snow off the roads with huge snow blowers instead of plowing them to the side!
Looked like this -
Yeah we are well equipped. In the heart of the city after a storm you don't want to be driving close to and after midnight when the red lights are flashing. That warns people that there will be snow removal that night in your sector. They will tow cars that are in the way and they blow the snow into big trucks (10 wheelers and bigger with a plywood side extensions to allow more snow to be carried away. These drivers are CRAZY (sorry for the caps) they burn red lights and go fast because I believe they are paid by the load. So behind the big snow blower you have these trucks following waiting to be filled. When I worked evenings and so would get out of work after 11:30 my route home would cross their route to the dumping area. I almost got into a few accidents because of them. They are big and if they decide to move over, you can honk but ultimately you can be right but you will have more damage to your car than they will so it was best to be safer than sorry.

Wow that's crazy, I never knew that! Suck for the people that get their vehicle towed but I guess they knew ahead of time. It have been scary when you almost got into an accident with those trucks, it's a good think you didn't!
I use sticks or crutches, depending on how strong I'm feeling that day, shower seat, manual wheelchair, adapted Harley trike if it's not pissing down, but generally I'm lucky enough to manage reasonably normally
Geez, where to start? Make it a short list. Manual chair, powerchair and my grabber. A good grabber is essential in my life though I have yet to find the right one. I have cords attached to windows and other things. I varnished a long dowel and covered it with sailor's fancywork and it's attached to the light next to the sink in the kitchen. Over the bed table for the computer, telephone and misc. stuff. Table lets me keep it at the right height and get my chair slightly under it. I have an assortment of gloves for wheeling including Petzl Rappeling gloves in goatskin. No burn with those and they wear forever but too hot for warm weather so I wear Gill deckhand gloves for everyday. Good dexterity, take the wet, are washable (huge benefit) and my last pair of gloves are Gill offshore racing gloves. They are too thick for dexterity but grip well enough in the wet, keep my hands warm and are water resistant (not waterproof!). Even my short list is long ;-)
Well I now have a walker at home, which I use whenever I can, but I still get very tired if I walk very far, and my Physio is talking about crutches at the end of this month.
Hi hobbit, I'm looking forward to the crutches, but to be honest Im a bit scared at the thought of crutches because there is nothing in front of me to stop me falling forwards , but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
