A recumbent bicycle/trike is a bicycle that places the rider in a laid-back reclining position and the one i've been looking into is pedaled with your legs and has 3 wheels. Same concept as an arm bike, except you pedal with your feet. My legs are significantly stronger than my arms(backwards SCI?) and my balance is poor so this type of bike is ideal for me. A tad expensive but provides excellent mobility and means to a dynamic workout.
I've been really wanting a recumbent trike as well. Sometimes I look around on craigslist to check the prices when used ones pop up, but even those are way out of my price range! Do you know if you want a delta or tadpole?
I have a genetic connective tissue disorder called EDS with neuro complications

The model 'rover' i'm interested in is a tadpole. I'll have a better idea after i grill the bike dealer on saturday. I'm probably going to go with whichever one is more stable.
That looks really cool but it's not something I could use unfortunately. It looks like a great way to build up lower body strength for those who have some movement though! Thinking about this, I think I'll go have a look at some hand cranked cycles.

I would definitely have to agree mr.bossman! Its no secret that getting a dynamic cardio workout with a SCI is no small feat.
Cardio is def a big issue for SCI peeps...think we should start a thread just about this to be honest. My function and mobility is relatively good and i still want to improve my cardio.
I go to the gym 6 days and the equipment isnt so easy to use though i can get on and off the rower now if I use my crutch to support me and this is quite a good workout.
Would be difficult for even a high functioning quad though.we could info on cardio fitness for diff function levels maybe??
