This is the hand control unit that I got for my car. Yes they are a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it. I don't need a spinner knob and it's like driving the car normally.
The Accelerator Ring is an advanced hand control driving adaptation. It offers drivers effortless, controlled acceleration and braking, with the advantage of a natural driving position, to achieve one of the most satisfying driving experiences available.
The things that this company can do are amazing, they seem to have a solution for every driving need, from paraplegics, quadriplegics and dwarfs, they have the answers to get you on the road.
This conversion is one of the most aesthetically pleasing with the Accelerator Ring blending in with the vehicle’s interior to give a factory finish look.
This is the link to the company that installed the Accelerator Ring for me, Problem Management Engineering, they are located in Hornsby, in northern Sydney suburb in Australia click here for more info I hope you find the information in this thread useful.
Thanks for sharing Butiki, I just had a look at their site and saw a picture of what it looks like. I've never seen hand controls like them before, they look really slick and don't stand out too much

If you are looking for latest in hand controls industry then Guidosimplex is right choice for you. I have URL for US company - here -, but you should look for dealers in Canada and Australia Butiki,DJ,
Butiki, that is the ultimate para driving tool!!!! Great looking, and obviously gives you freedom. Thanks for link. For this mechanism, better hand control than I have is needed. Also, can it be disabled for AB driver to use car?
mobilitycenter, looks like some good products of this sort now available in USA--I would have had to order accelerator ring from Belgium when I was choosing my hand controls. I had to choose another system because my hands do not grip consistently. Thanks for link. Will ask you same question--is installation permanent, or can it be temporarily disconnected for AB driver use?

Most of installations are permanent, but for details you can use More info form below product description. Also you can find dealer in US on this link. These are Italian hand controls, some even used for car racing.
The only problem I have with my hand controls wavewolf, is that if you buy a new car you can not transfer them over, and at $10,000 I'm not happy.
That would make me very unhappy, too. My Veigel hand controls are transferrable--would have to pay for re-installation, of course. And they can be de-activated/re-activated in moments to allow AB to drive my car, nice for shared road trip.
