I'm not sure how else to describe the sensations I get in my feet and legs other than confused. My nerves/spinal cord must be damaged to the point that all the messages my nerves send out get jumbled. Most of the time, I have the constant burn/tingle, but about 1/3 of any of my sensation gets interpreted by my brain as (feels like) someone is savagely mangling my feet, crushing them with a hammer, they are crossed when they're not, and I either feel barefoot while wearing shoes, or feel like I have shoes on when I don't. Does anyone else experience this? I can go into more detail about the specific feelings if you like. I haven't heard of anyone else having these sensations, but I'm sure I'm not alone.
My feet have a constant tingling and feel tight all the time. If someone touches my feet I can kind of feel it but unless I look I don't know where on my foot they are touching. I have feeling in my calves and tingling but I have reasonably normal feeling in them. Is this similar to you Knight ?
Knight Most of my body is as you described. The sensations I have can only be described as before my injury, when I sat wrong and my leg was tingling and hurt as blood flow returned. After my injury, I have these sensations 24/7 throughout my entire body where there is paralysis.
It becomes painful (in my mind) if I let my mind take over and believe the tingling is real.
I guess I'm fortunate that I don't get any unpleasant feeling In my feet, but my bum that's another story. One day it feels like I'm sitting on a rolled up towel and can get very uncomfortable by the end of the day, then the next day there is no pain but it's like I'm sitting in a wet patch. Go figure.
My feet are the craziest part of my body Knight. My consultant explained its because they are the further extremity from the spinal cord so the damage tends to be worse here.

That is interesting and probably true. I would imagine the nerves there would really get the wrong messages through because they're so far away. The messages have so far to travel that I'm sure they get messed up on the way.

I think that you are describing nerve pain, and unfortunately that is a symptom of CES. There are various medications or supplements that can be used for this. If it gets really bad, and I know that my nerve pain was much worse than even my muscle pain, that your doctor can prescribe Gabapentin or Lyrica. I use Alpha Lipoic Acid to prevent this.

I will be looking into Lyrica and possibly Alpha Lipoic Acid when I can get down to see my regular physician again. I am hesitant to try new meds, but the pain gets unbearable sometimes, so it may be time to take a chance.
