wavewolf, that's some great info! I've never heard of that but it looks like something I'd definitely try out! I think my nerves could use some "waking up" so this looks pretty promising especially if you've noticed a difference

I think its great that you walkers keep working hard to keep your mobility. I wish i could walk too, in any degree but on the other hand i can see that there is a price to pay also to keep your walking up.
I never exercised much before my SCI but this has made me even more lazier than before lol
wavewolf, your links for some reason were broken so I've fixed the issue. If anyone tried to click on the link and got an error message, please try again. I'll give this a proper read after
Thank you for fixing! Not sure what I did incorrectly.
Lara, our canes do look similar. But the offset angle on mine is a key advantage, although it's downward shape looks odd. If you stand and hold the shaft of your cane with hand in a neutral position, you will notice that your front end is downward at about 20 degrees. That is the angle of the handle on mine, and it saved my median nerve from compression.

I dont think I could use a treadmill just yet as i am not able to walk far. I havent given it a try but I dont think it would be worth trying it out yet as I wont last on it very long. Are there any paraplegics who couldnt at first but was able to as time went on?

DJ i can walk about 30 with my walker now i have walked between bars now so i think i will be trying with crutches next week but im very scared. I lean forward a lot onto my walker and my pt says im relying on it too much now and it will not help my core and posture.
I need to exercise to strengthen now because i feel very weak and slow when i walk.

Ilovelisee, do what you can, as little as it might be. You will build endurance by going just a little farther today than you did yesterday. I got off the walker by taking the walker to the park and walking a little on the trail when I was finally able to. Just keep going forward.
One of the good things about the treadmill is that you can hold on to both sides. You can go as slow or as fast as you wish, for as long or short a distance as is suitable. One problem I had with the treadmill is that I had to actually step up and pull myself up to get on the thing! And that is something else that you need to consider.
