I wanted to create this thread for a while now. I see there are some threads where you guys are complaining, whining,... How about some positive sides of rollin on a wheelchair???
Lets hear from some of the wheelchair users (btw wheeler, wheelie, whats the correct name?
For example I enjoy rollin on my back wheels, or rollin downhill, I enjoy this just like a little kid There were many more, but cant think of any right now, and my comp is gonna die soon, with the cable being too far (or I am just too lazy to get it haha). So help me out!
Ok heres mine....u always have a seat which can be pretty handy! I love wheeling fast downhill mostly lol but then tend to worry i wont be able to stop in time :-0 You can give rides in your chair :-p Wheeling is pretty good exercise too and also you never wear your shoes out :-) il think of some more soon!
I think that i should add that on the whole, as a community of 'wheelers' we arent really a moaning bunch although its healthy to air and vent feelings of frustrations and challenges, its good to strike a balance though :-)
Using the power chair is definitely fun sometimes. It's nice being able to travel far and not get tired (power chair). Doing wheelchair skills in the manual chair is fun. People are generally nicer to us which is awesome as well!
Oh yeah like offroaderswife has said, the concert scene is pretty awesome when you're in a wheelchair and it's probably the same as being on the dance floor night. deanertheweiner, jesse and I experienced it last weekend!
I like being able to go fast again in my chair, and not being as afraid of falling as when I am upright. Also like knowing that I will have a comfy seat wherever I am, reduces pain. Have to agree with DJ and @kilgoretrout that people are generally kinder to us!
