It is wonderful that the designer gave her the opportunity to live her dream, and she carried it off beautifully. But, I get upset with people who take total credit for their healing when NO ONE can make it happen, although we can do a lot to help the process. What do you think?

I watched this video earlier wavewolf and thought she did an amazing job indeed and looked proud and confident.
My thoughts on your question are this:
I think this is multi factored to be honest, healing is a natural physical and scientific occurrence. The body is designed to heal, to what degree it heals depends on different factors. Extent and severity of compression of the spinal cord (in the case of SCI), position of the compression, complications and the body's natural response to healing.
The body's response to healing can be affected by various factors also. Positive mindset, exercise, physiotherapy and strengthening, quality of nursing care can affect healing also.
With all that considered, we can also look at the spiritual healing, we all have a spirit (in my understanding). Whatever our belief system is, spirituality is universal, wether you believe in one God, or many Gods this 'faith' can have a positive influence, as with everything, this will be to an unknown degree.
Then if God chooses ( yes i believe in God, even as a pagan) in his divine wisdom that scientifically unexplained healing will happen then im sure it will do.
