Sorry guys I haven't posted lately but wanted to ask your thoughts on this. I'm looking for a good option for a full body workout that will hopefully help improve range and increase strength. I came across this www.nustep.com/home-use/spinal-cord-injuries please watch the video. I read that it can be adjusted so maybe it can move your legs through full motion, I image this would be greatly beneficial when yo sit in a wheelchair all day. I find this one interesting because they say they offer financing. Has anyone used one of these? Please share any other ideas for full body workouts.
Hey abacoian, I've seen my buddy use that a lot at rehab and from what I know, he really likes it! I've wanted to try it myself but never got the chance too. I think for quadriplegics once they get their hands strapped onto the handles, they're good to go! I'm not too sure about the adjustability and how much range of motion we can achieve but it definately looks like a good piece of equipment!
I wrote the company and asked if there was one in the area I can try. If it is a good product and helps with movement I'm thinking it may be worth the investment. I really like that they offer payment plans. It's one of those things, if I could do a workout like that daily or a few times a week it make make a great improvement to my ability and overall health, but it is a little scary not knowing for sure. I will be thinking about it.

Yeah the payment plans would definitely help! Hopefully you can try one out and see how you like it. Let us know what they say!
My husband Peter uses the Medimotion bike. Can be used either just for legs (with or without motor) or for arms and legs. They are expensive (around £3000 here in the UK) but they can be hired for 3 months at a time or you can rent to buy so when you have paid the full price over 3 years (no interest) they become yours. His right side is weak so the ability to measure right and left legs separately is perfect for him and he can play a video game of trampoline using leg symmetry to keep him in the centre of the trampoline. Lots of other games to play, lots of training feedback and training suggestions. He has a big issue with tight muscles and spasticity and using the bike daily really helps. Can't recommend it enough. www.mediotronics.co.za/index.php?_route_=disabled_therapy&search=motomed%20muvi
I use a nu-step in PT once a week for the last 18 months. I really like the adjustability. I'm 6'4" and fit on it with no issues. The seat slides forward and back. Also the length of the handles is adjustable.
It is odd that this thread popped up after 4 years. I bought a nustep in 2012 when I got an inheritance. I love the thing. At first I could barely work it with just my legs for 2 minutes on the lowest setting, but supplementing with arm strength let me do a cardio workout. Now I can work it with just legs for about 5 minutes. I use it 2 or 3 times a day to gt my blood moving.
I think a person with no leg function could still appreciate using this to get their legs moving. Even passive movement gets the blood flowing faster, leaving the legs feeling refreshed.
I step in the water, but the water has moved on...

Hmm.. not sure how this happened. Looks like I resurrected it - but not sure why! Must have seen it as a new thread.........spooky.
Oh well - glad you have a nu-step tetra, - even when peter had little leg function it helped him loads to just move his legs passively - as you say helps circulation etc......
I used a Nustep in rehab at Stoke Mandeville hospital. It worked really well for me as a paraplegic, but I understand its also a good workout for the able bodied. You do need to have the space for it though. I'm currently looking into a Berkelbike, which you can use in the home or on the road for an excellent workout. The benefit is that they get paralysed legs moving, which is essential for health and wellbeing. The Berkelbike has an added benefit of FES (functional electrical stimulation), so your legs actually do the workout. Its worth looking up on the internet. But expensive!
