Sorry I've been away for so long. I've been working on so many things! This thread is about my tattoo that I am worried about. I got an anchor tattoo on my left foot. My left leg is mostly numb and has slow circulation since the left side of my spinal cord was damaged worse than the right side.
So, I've had this tattoo for a week now, and it's healing a tad slower than tattoos above my injury are, which I expected, but my foot is still swollen! The area is a light red/pink, but normal body temperature, and there is no pus anywhere. It's winter, so it doesn't get to breathe much unless I'm home, so it is staying a bit more moist than say a tattoo on my shoulder would. I'm keeping a very close eye on it, and infection doesn't seem to be a problem. Over half of it has gotten the layer of skin over the top already.
I know there are others on here who have gotten tattoos below their injury level, so I am asking you guys/gals if this sounds normal?

No tats here but my foot looks like you describe. I was taking a shower yesterday and really noticed how red and purple it looked compared to my only semi dead foot, quite a difference. I'd keep it elevated and in the open as much as you can, watch for infection. I had a sore from a surgery about 3 months ago, not much really, but it still hasn't completely healed. Takes a long time.
No tattoos here either Knight but I know that any scars below my injury take longer to heal compared to scars above my injury. I don't know exactly why that is but perhaps it's because the brain can't send signals telling the body how to heal it self? Just a guess, I don't know for sure. I'd say you should see a doctor if it doesn't get better in a week.
I had a blood blister from a sock seam - by the time I noticed it, it had become infected & eaten halfway through my toe, oozing green pus - didn't feel a thing though . . . took quite a while to heal, even with daily visits to Dr for dressings + antibiotics

Hobit, I wear these sock called Smooth Toe. I get them from compression stockings.com. They save my hammer toe from the seam you get from regular socks. Just a thought. They also help with swelling.
My foot is doing loads better. It's not swollen anymore except when both my feet swell from being vertical/sitting for too long. My foot didn't take the ink very well. (I have issues with my skin rejecting ink if it's not high quality ink, and ink bleeds a lot since my skin is very pale.)
Eh, it looks not so great. Turns out it did get infected due to me not paying enough attention to it. It got a cat hair in it. I'll post a pic when I get on my laptop later.
