Well, after several attempts to create a method of holding my feet to bike pedals I gave up. now it is time to go to a bike shop and see what they can provide. I got out of the driveway and onto the street in front of the house. Then the elastic cords fell off and I was stuck in the bike path. A young couple helped me get back to the garage. A little embarrassed but unhurt and a little smarter.

Oh heck im so sorry to hear of this bensan...have you practiced on a stationary bike at all?..Just a word of advice, you dont want to have anything adapted to keep your feet in place because it can be dangerous.....You need to be able to release your feet at any time....
I use a stationary bike at the rehab gym I go to back in PA. I have not been able to find a handicap gym here in SW Florida. One of my neighbors here is going to come with me to the bike shop to see what they have. I did not think about a quick way to get my feet on the ground. At least I am using a tricycle so I won't fall off.

I checked out the bikes at the gym and there was no way to keep my feet on the pedals besides strapping them on. I have thought from time to time about taking my bike out for a ride and worry that my balance is not good enough, but I don't think that I would be able to hold my feet on the pedals.
This is an issue indeed keeping feet on the pedals bensan and ladylimpsalot....
Can i suggest that any straps that are adapted to pedals for outdoor (or indoor but these normally have velcro straps) use are secured with velcro as these will quick release in the case of you needing to dismount for any purpose...def not buckles
