My feet are always freezing to the touch, but they don't seem to feel cold, between my knees and ankles it seems fairly normal,I'm in bed now and they feel warm. But a feeling I get that I really hate is in my bum, one day it feels normal for want of a better word, then the next it feels like I'm sitting on a rolled up towel long ways, from my scrotum to my tail bone, it's really strange because this feeling alternates day by day, today was the normal feeling day and tomorrow will be the towel feeling day, I Wally don't understand it, I asked my doctor and he just said it was nerves and is in fact a good thing because it means that the nerves there are getting messages through.
Also if my wife touches my lower legs with rubber gloves on its like an electric shock and really quite unpleasant I always have tingling in my lower legs and feet and when I dry between my toes after my shower it feels like burning, but when I stand in the standing frame at physio my feet and legs feel ok, I do not understand this bloody CES. I also self Catheterise, I can feel it a bit but not unpleasant and I do it only when I feel I need to.
I have been self cathing since December. I think getting he right cath women is important because you can't see. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm good at it. It's already like second nature or me. I use a 12 French straight cath that's disposable. Made by coloplast. My insurance pays or 200 a month which works out well. If the cath is too flimsy you will struggle. I have had no uti's since I got out of hospital either. It's not ideal having to cath, but for me it's the least of my worries :-)
Butiki, I could self catheterize but I don't due to the hypersensitivity down there. It sucks when I can't be independent in that way because I have 'too much sensation'. It's a good and bad thing having the sensation.

Butiki....its def all kinda wierd isn't it...no pattern to anything but its the same with all SCI related stuff....
Docs do come out with some contradictions sometimes..they say its good that the nerves can provide some sensation even if its hypersensitivity....but no...the nerves are so messed up that the brain is trying to make some sense of it all and this makes us feel the nerve damage hypersensitivity. Its good that it provides us with some warning but heck....over stimulating touch is uncomfortable....and affects us..just as it does for DJ with his ISC...
minnow16, you are doing so well....i hope you stay UTI free because they are a curse...you are relatively newly SCI'd so well done to getting your ISC's off to an art
UTI's seem to be as th9ng of my past. Right after my problems started would get one every few weeks. Now for the past few years, I have been free. Good training and proper care seems to work,. I also use Coloplast products. The 14FR 16" work est for me. I started out with a flimsy one that was difficult to insert. It took me several discussions with a rep to get a good one.

I agree, coloplast have good products! All my friends think its such a big deal that I have to cath, but for me, it's the easiest part of this whole ordeal!
bensan it's great to hear that UTI's are no longer a problem! I'm hoping for the same results one day but until then, I gotta keep fighting these UTI's. I also use coloplast products like my condom catheter but I use a med-rx intermittent catheter. Maybe the different brands make a difference in quality?
Foot pain is killing me. The past 2 days have been bad. I am taking extra Lyrica and even hydrocodone. Nothing seems to be working. As soon as I fall asleep the ice pick is jabbed into my foot. I woke up and started to bang my foot on the side of the bed.

OMG bensan....me too!! the burning in my feet last night was relentless and then the pain i had in my toes and parts of my foot was so bad.....i feel bad for you and for me because I know how awful it is and i struggle to settle in bed.
I have been prescribed nerve pain meds too but to be honest they really don't have any effect on the pain and the burning.....
Its not just that mine burn like crazy, its also the pain in parts of my foot and then the spasms in my toes and ankles too. I end up hanging my feet out of bed and feeling sorry for myself and moan away
I actually complain very little about myself (yes DJ..i do moan about other stuff to make up for it i know lol) but the feet thing drives me nuts!..so i really feel for you!!
