That's the difference isn't it..if someone is sincere you don't mind..I mostly don't mind being asked but I do get annoyed if someone is being smart and sarcastic.
One old guy walked past me and said 'race you' lol he though it funny that he was a fair bit older and could still beat me in a race....'mmm' i thought..'not if i got a timely spasm and gave you a swift kick in the shin' lol
Shortly after my surgery I was in a coffee shop. I was still in a wheelchair. A mother with a teenage boy was in front of me in line,. She must have had him shopping all day. He was tired So tired he was hanging all over the counter while waiting for his drinks,. He looked back at me and said "I'll bet you're glad you have the wheelchair" His mother almost crawled under the door to get away,. She kept apologizing to me as she walked out,. That time I just laughed. It sounded like something I would say when I was 15

Most people see my braces first. I watch them make their way up to eye level. Some look away, most an ackward smile. People are way nicer now than in the past. I'm not sure why that is.
Hi everyone. the weather broke here in PA. Now it's is very comfortable to sit outside in my chair and enjoy a good cigar. Friends took us to the local outside market on Sunday. They have music while the local farmers and craft people sell. Bob and I sat and listened to the music while the wives walked. It was fun getting out.
bensan...it sounds like you had a great day! We all need days like this to remind us its not all bad and life can still be enjoyable and fun ..minnow16...i feel very fortunate also.
I've certainly surprised myself, especially this trip I have made to Canada to visit DJ....I would not have made this trip pre SCI but i can become pretty determined if im told i can't do something and this CES has challenged that principle more than anything in my life. This is why i haven't let it stop me doing the things i have wanted to..its like a 'hell no'! I can and will do it! lol
I have to admit flying alone was scarey especially as i've avoided flying most of my life as im so scared of it.....
Which reminds me..i need to pack...i go home today

Good for you bensan, I have enjoyed a nice cigar from time to time myself:) Talk about weird weather, I thought I was going to freeze yeasterday. A friend of my wife's posted on her facebook account that she'd be damned if she was going to start her furnace in July, but it was 50 degrees. Today, waking was great, back to summer. Thats one thing I didn't talk about is how cold my legs get, I can be sweating like a pig and my legs will still be cold, ice cold. I'm with minnow and lara in that I feel fortunate also. My ortho says it could always be worse, and he's right.
lara, your return trip should be a piece of cake, you faced your fears like a champ. I hope eveything goes smoothly. Mark
That's funny kilg0retr0ut because my lower legs stay cold even when im warm......its all so kinda wierd sometimes isn't it lol Thankyou for the good will wishes for my trip home.
bensan, that sounds great! It's nice to get out and enjoy the weather isn't it. I also think I'm more fortunate than others minnow16, I guess there'll always be someone "worse" off than us. Lαrα, I'm going to miss you, the two weeks flew right by but like kilg0retr0ut said, you'll be fine on the ride back.

Now I understand why this forum is so interesting. I thought my cold legs were a symptom all my own. The lower legs are always cold. We decided a few years ago (when my wife retired) to move to Florida in the winter. Her mom has a home there with an extra bedroom. We take care of the expenses and chores to pay for our room Even down south my legs feel like ice. Sorry but I think Canada would be too cold for me. I don't miss the cold and snow in Pennsylvania
bensan, it's good to hear you think the forum is interesting! I have to say though, Canada pretty much has two seasons, winter and summer. Our winters and cold and summers are hot! Lαrα was surprised how hot it was here. Though, I'd love to live in Cali where it's warm all the time!

I lucked out on the hypersensitivity, mine isn't as bad as you guy's. I did have it fairly bad on the bottoms of my feet. I could barely walk barefoot, when I did and came across a few grains of sand, if felt like shards of glass. They used this corn husk machine to try to desensitize early on but it didn't seem to help. At times my left leg gets real sensitive, I can even set off a shock by touching it. I'm lucky because this has got better over time. I do still have the burning from the knee down, it's tolorable but really hasn't changed.(Tramadol helps some) Now this may sound crazy but I wonder if it's even possible that my bladder may be hypersensitive, because learning to intermitent cath. was extremely difficult, and painful. They had to send me to a hospital that delt with SCI to accomplish this.( I thought I may be stuck with the foley) I still cath., it still hurts, but like the sensitivity, it has improved.
I have to cath al the time. I'm lucky because I have no feeling in that area. I had minor surgery last year and the nurses found it interesting how fast I get the job done without help. At least I can see where it is going. Being female would be difficult, I have to set the clock for every 3 hours because I can't tell when I am full
