I've noticed that on the chair my friends so lovingly got for me 2nd hand, the Spinergy wheels that are on it are different. The quick-release axles are different sizes-- the right wheel's is bigger. There are more spokes on the right wheel than the left. I'm just wondering if anyone knows why this might be? It doesn't affect the control of the chair, I just want to know why. I asked my friend, and he said the guy who had it before me was right handed and the right wheel axle was bigger because it was his "drive" wheel, which I suppose means if he wanted to wheel with one hand, it made it easier. I don't know why. Help?
I attached a photo so you can see what I'm talking about.
Knight, I've never seen or heard of people doing this before and I'm not sure why he did that but I don't think it's a huge issue. If anything your arm on the side with the smaller wheel might tire out quicker but I don't think it'd make any other difference. How long have you used it for so far?
Also, is it ok to put a bigger camber tube on a chair? Just wondering for future reference...
By putting a bigger camber tube does that increase your camber? I'm not sure how the camber tube works but camber increases speed and stability so it's a good thing. I think chairs normally come with 2 degrees of but I asked for mine with 4 degrees. The only down side to more camber is a wider wheelbase but it hasn't really affected me from getting through narrow spaces so far
A camber tube is what holds the wheels, the tube that you pop the wheels into. Getting a bigger one wouldn't increase the camber. I have 2 degrees camber. I'm just wondering cuz I need a wider wheelbase. Getting a bigger camber tube would widen your wheelbase

Yeah sorry I know what a camber tube does I meant to say I didn't know what the purpose of a bigger camber was Perhaps the bigger tube was needed to fit the current wheels you have? A wider camber tube will give you a wider wheelbase for sure. Just out of curiosity, why do you need a wider wheelbase? You can add more camber which'll widen the wheelbase but getting a wider tube will keep the same amount of camber while widening the base.
To be honest, my hips got wider and sometimes I sit crooked when my back hurts and I don't notice that my wheel is rubbing my leg. My only choices are to get a different camber tube or switch back to 0 camber, which I really don't want to do. I like having 2 degree camber.

Yeah keep the camber for sure! My hips started pushing on my side guards which ended up rubbing on my wheels but I actually haven't had it happen to me after switching from my Roho Hybrid to Ride Custom cushion. Getting a wider camber tube is a good idea
A different cushion would be nice. My other chair had a Stimulite Honeycomb cushion with a bump in the middle to keep my legs apart. After less than a year of having it spread my legs apart, my hips got so wide. I just have a firm foam cushion on this chair right now. And with holidays coming, I fear my bum is going to get wider! Crap.

Yeah the Roho allowed my legs to splay out but the Ride cushion keeps everything nice and firm and close. A new cushion would be great but I guess ultimately we all have to watch what we eat and keep on exercising!

I hate that word exercise Being the lazy person that I am. I hate to say it knight but it looks like the previous owner just put the wheels on as spare parts, certinally does not look right to me. But being a ex biker I'm very very fussy about appearance and things matching

I know Butiki lol, if we could get better and stay healthy without exercise I'd be more than happy to not it but unfortunately that's not the reality I don't know what's up with the wheels on Knight's chair but I am fussy like you. I like things to be "perfect" and Lαrα knows that very well especially with the forum and with everything I do
