Oh that's not good! Why do you think you're losing muscle tone if you're using them? Do you get lots of spasm in your legs?
DJ, I do get alot of spasms, and I take Baclofen to ease them a bit. I only get them in my thighs though. I know Baclofen can cause weakness, but I only take 10-15 mg a day, so I still get spasms.
Knight, there is a sure sign that you need to be careful about pressure sores. Also crossing your legs is bad for your circulation. You lead an independent and busy life, it would be real bad for you to be put out of action due to a skin issue.
Muscle wastage affects my calves also and no spasms there either which would help....so be extra careful from now
Oh I see, so you don't get the clonus on your feet and calves huh Knight? I guess that's one reason why you're losing muscle in your calves. Lαrα made a good point on circulation so I don't think crossing your legs for too long is a good idea.
How good are you with moving your feet up and down?

Whenever I cross my legs it just feels so uncomfortable that I uncross them quickly. It is amazing what strange colors my lower legs and feet can turn. Lovely shades of purple and blue! Trying to get them red and green for Christmas, but have not had any luck! Be careful.
Do you have an Easy Stand machine? That has helped me a lot with tone. Along with stretching I am almost off Baclofen. I was at 20mg 4 times a day, now I'm down to 10mg in the morning and hope to be completely off in a couple weeks. I stretch twice a day and try to stand for up to an hour a day.
andrew, the only medical aids I have are 2 wheelchairs and a walker. I regularly stand and walk a bit everyday. I stretch everyday. My spasms aren't too bad because I stay active. I'm in a lot of pain lately and my legs are disappearing into sticks regardless of how active I am

This is the machine I have. I cannot stand up so it locks my legs in place and raises me to the standing position. It's good for blood flow and bone density. Look on ebay if you want to buy one. I'm not sure if insurance will pay for or not.
