I had my first UTI last month, but that was from severe dehydration because of the stomach flu. Now I must drink some more water and perhaps some lemonade!
Hard to say. When I get concerned about my bacterial count I step up the water and cranmax. The neurogenic bladder that is managed with catheter or has persistent residual urine in bladder will almost always test positive, at least it does for me. I was taking antibiotics far to often. Haven't taken any for UTI recently so maybe it helps but that's a "sample study of one" . Urologist at Lyndhurst advises to only treat if there's blood in urine or high temp. Wondering what do others use as a benchmark for taking antibiotics? Richard

Honestly richard, that's what pissed me off about Robson clinic at Lyndhurst. Wait till there's blood in the urine are you kidding me? I've heard that before and I think it's rediculous. Any time I notice cloudiness, sediments, darkness or a different smell in the urine, I send out a urine sample for testing.
I started off taking cranberry supplements but I switched to d-mannose which is essentially the same thing but stronger.
DJ. The trouble I had trrating UTIs that Robson resulted in me being resistant to some of the first line antibiotics. We need to know what's best for each of us.

Yeah after every visit there I'd get a UTI so I've just given up on them.
