If your knee is dislocating, tape isn't going to be enough. have you ever tried a hinged knee brace? Especially one that allows you to set it to stop at a specific angle to prevent hyperextension. I have a nice one from Don Joy.
I'm not familiar with any using latex, I really don't see this type with neoprene. With mine theres a bit of terry cloth with the straps, and some sort of nylon blend in the lining. Some people use sleeves under the knee braces, I don't when I'm wearing it against my skin. But since I rarely wear shorts and don't use the brace when I'm in my chair in a skirt or dress it just goes over my pants. I'm getting a new one soon, here's my current one

It's the same amount of pain, just different. Instead of pain of bones grinding, it's this constant stiffness and pressure, and I keep forgetting that I can't twist anymore.
