Butiki, I understand why you would want Peristeen. I hope that they change their minds and fund it. But to tell the truth I am generally constipated and don't go unless I take a laxative. I haven't had an accident in quite a while.

ladylimpsalot, be sure to take care of your bowels and empty when you have to. It can cause serious health issues not taking care of your bowels and that's the last thing you need.

ladylimpsalot, can i ask what laxative you take and was it advised by your spinal unit?
My contenance nurse told me that it's one of those things that's outside of their guild lines , it's not funded anywhere in Australia and from what I can gather it's fairly new here. So maybe one day they will see the light.

Ah yeah I understand. Hopefully they'll reconsider it for you in the future mate!
I can start to feel when I need to go, even though I can't go. Sometimes the laxative in my system will last for a couple of days.
ladylimpsalot..i take movacol and senna daily...prefer to maintain regularity daily...can you not maintain your routine daily with a regular dose thats not too high? i sound very similar to you in the way that i can feel to go but then i cant go either....
Cauda Equina Syndrome seems to affect us typically this but because we are lower motor neurone then we cant use supps. Peristeen is a good alternative for CES people but i did'nt opy for it personally as i use the movacol to help
The peristeen system turned up this afternoon But I'm not allowed to use it until Jenny,my contenance nurse, comes around to set it up and train me on how to use it properly. Of course it turned up after she had finished work for the day. Anyway it's here so hopefully I will be able to wear normal undies instead of bloody contenance pads in the very near future.
