G'day, I know we have already had a few posts about wheelchairs on here in the past, but what I'm interested in is what brand of wheelchair you use, why you chose that particular brand of wheelchair and what would you like your next wheelchair to be when the time comes to replace your current wheelchair. I have put a poll up so that we can see what are the most popular wheelchairs used by our members are, so I hope that you vote on the poll. This also includes Powered wheelchairs. Well I use a Tilite Areo Z2, the reason that I ended up with this particular wheelchair was really out of my control. While I was in rehab the O/T helped me in choosing a wheelchair, as I had no idea at all about wheelchairs at this stage of my life, my choices where a folding frame or a rigid wheelchair, I chose the ridgid chair because of it being light and easy to get around in. The wheelchair that I wanted was the Tilite ZRA, but being funded the rehab would not supply me this wheelchair as it is very expensive, so I was introduced to the Areo z, I love this wheelchair, it is very easy to push around all day, light and easy to put in and out of the car, is comfortable and it looks good. The next wheelchair I want to get when this one has come to the end of it's life is the new Tilite TRA titanium wheelchair, its a very cool looking piece of equipment, and it comes in the Black series I also have a Invacare top end crossfire all terrain wheelchair for when we go bush, I have posted enough about this chair so all I will say is that I love it. In your reply to this post could you please also put the model of your wheelchair...........
I voted as 'other' as my chair is not a known make but its called 'Karma'. Its very basic a quite heavy although it looks smart, i purchased it will little knowledge about chairs
I am however looking at getting a new one sometime soon and will probably be looking at a Tilite and will be certainly be making an informed decision this time
Hey Lαrα, I googled your wheelchair and would you believe it's actually Australian made, Karma wheelchairs and are distributed all over the Asia pacific area, France and the UK. I've never heard of them until you told me. Just goes to show that you learn something new everyday.

Hey Butiki, I have a TiLite ZRA as my primary chair (anodized matte blacks with red spokes for my rims) and a Permobil M300 power chair for those days that require a lot of moving! I love both chairs and would be more than happy to get them again in the future. I've had no major problems with either chair so there's nothing I can really complain about
My coatrack is a pink Quickie Q7 made of aluminum. Worst idea ever, getting that chair. It is not set up correctly and it has a really high back. I think the guy who ordered it for me thought I was a T2, not a T12! The chair I actually use is a Quickie Ti Titanium with Spinergy rims (white spokes), Natural Fit handrims, and Kenda Kobra tires to handle the snow. Quickie no longer makes the Ti, so my next chair will probably be a TiLite, if Medicaid approves it. I have to wait another 4 years (yes, 4 YEARS) to even qualify for a new chair, and then, I have to have a good reason why the Q7 doesn't work for me anymore. The fact that they told me the Q7 would only weigh 14 pounds and it actually weighs at least 25 pounds, just the frame is ridiculous! It is made of aluminum, it is bulky, the back folds down... I will NEVER recommend a Q7 to anybody. It's the worst designed wheelchair ever, in my opinion. I don't know why they stopped making the Ti, now that is an awesome chair, and it takes a beating! I got my Ti used, as a gift, and after all the adjustments and regular maintenance, I have never been happier. The Frog Leg casters are wonderful, also.
This is a great post Butiki. I don't know what kind of chair my man uses I'm ashamed to say...I am actually looking to get him a new chair since his hasn't been changed in more than ten years! He lives in a small European country with very bad health care system and they do not subsidize for a chair. He repaired it several times, I've sent him tires and some parts but it is definitely time to change it. I am looking for a place that would possibly donate a chair for him or if I can buy one and ship to him. It is a sad situation so if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear

So Knight, are you sure I shouldn't get a Q7 as my next chair?

theone, I know that if you're lucky you could find a good TiLite for a few hundred bucks but shipping it to Europe will probably be costly. Have you looked online to see if there's anything near his area?
I like my Quickie II, but next chair will be some model of a TiLite. We'll it's going on 5 years of the Q-2...maybe I can get insurance to buy into a new chair

Hi theone, if you look on ebay, Tilite sell demo chairs for a third of the normal price, and all the measurements are on the add with each chair. Thats where I would start my hunt for a new chair.

You have very good taste DJ, mine is matte black as well, I chose that colour because the Triumph speedmaster that i bought 3 months before my injury was matte black.

I've been looking at TiLites lately... I'm stuck between the ZRA and the TRA. I'm sure by the time I qualify for another chair, there will be more schnazzy ones though. But, a girl can dream, right? I'm saving up money for a bigger camber tube for my Quickie Ti. It costs $350...

Knight in Canada it's about 4 years until you can qualify for another chair as well. Seems long but the way time flies these days it might not be too bad I haven't heard of a TRA until you've mentioned it. I just googled what they look like and I definitely have seen them before. What's the difference between the TRA and the ZRA?
