Hi, my urodynamics says I can get up to 400 ml before 'leaking' but I also take Vesicare at bedtime and Tofranil 3 times a day (antidepressant but it's side effect is urinary retention) and I still am incontinent. My rehab Dr. Didn't try me on Ditropan, don't know why though. Does anyone know that if you get Botox injections can you stop taking the other meds for the spasms? I would live to not have to take those meds. I am like you DJ, I don't like taking meds. It is like with blood work, I would rather pick someone than being picked! I seem to be more incontinent when forcing when doing transfers especially. When I used to self cath, sometimes I wouldn't get any urine right away and being a beginner, thought I wasn't in my bladder but now that I am more sure of myself and so know I am in my bladder I realize that my bladder is spasming and sometimes I just wait 30 seconds and then lo and behold the bladder starts emptying.
sherry, it'd be nice if you could get off the unnecessary meds for sure! Botox should temporarily (few months) "paralyze" the bladder when means that you wouldn't have spasms anymore. It's not guaranteed to work on everyone but I think it works for the most part. I don't like the idea of "paralyzing" something that's already paralyzed so that's why I stick with my ditropan
sherry, I think it's because Oxybutynin is covered by Medicaid/Medicare/state-run insurance where as Tofranil and Vesicare are not because there are no generics. Also might have something to do with the amount of side effects and how they work.

Imipramine is the generic for Tofranil
As for Vesicare I found this on the internet: There is currently no generic version of VESIcare (solfenacin) available. The patent for VESIcare is due to expire in December 2015
I just saw that Oxytrol’s generic name is Oxybutynin transdermal.
I will definitely look into other possibilities when I see my rehab Md in June because I believe my incontinences are caused by spasms. I don't feel these spasms but live with the consequences.
My bladder spasms are gnarly today. Thoughts on how to get them to stop without overdosing on Oxybutynin? I already did a bladder flush and it made them worse. Help!!!! I can't make it to the doctor because I don't have a vehicle and my primary is 30 miles away!

No caffeine Knight as it also irritates the bladder and dont let you bladder become too full and try keep your bowels emptied efficiently...

Oops, forgot the caffeine thing... drank some coffee. Guess I'll pump some water in and flush it out. Duh....
My bladder has been acting up lately. It's getting harder for my bladder to empty itself when means my AD is more intense and lasts longer. I think I've got another UTI

At least that's all you have to worry about... got cramps last night that almost caused AD. I thought it was my bladder, but soon realized it was my uterus. I don't bleed because I continuously take the active birth control pills to control my endometriosis, but I still get gnarly, crushing pain when I have any hormone fluctuations. Ah, the joys of being a woman...
