I saw a urologist when I was in the hospital in 2015 and she reminded me in my case that I only need to int cath once a day, as long as I am peeing on my own. the danger for me is I am not able to empty bladder so if I don't cath once a day to empty, it raises chances of old urine in bladder causing a uti or bladder infection. I am able to empty to about 150 ml in bladder on my own, then I have to int cath the rest, usually before bedtime. also its been 13 months since last uti, happy about that.
sam yeah that's pretty much what I've heard for people who can empty on their own. Glad to hear that you haven't had a UTI in a while. Hope it stays that way!
Hello DJ & Lara, I was wondering if either of you had tried the botox injections into the bladder? It should eliminate all bladder spasms and make everything work smoother. DJ, at 350 ml - 450 ml is the ideal bladder size. AB's feel the sensation to go at around 350. The urge gets painful at 450. I don't get any sensation at all until about 500 ml and no pain until around 900 ml. My urologist reminds me I am not helping my bladder with the high volume output.
Good luck.
I was wondering about this too. There was a clinical trial going on for this at UW but you can't have a history of UTIs, colonized bladder, SCI, you name it...so frustrating.
This time the botox op did not work. no one could explain why, back to oxy tablets two 5mg a day. no leaks but do not like the dry mouth effect, especially when i'm lecturing students. get hick ups when swallowing food to. might take the oxy pills down to one a day, see if that works.

That's really strange, sorry to hear that Peter. I've completely weened off oxy and don't do the Botox injections. Still get bladder spasms and AD multiple times a day but it doesn't seem like it's any worse than when I did take oxy.

hey dj.. 3 years ago.. u mentioned that ur bladder capacity was 350-400 ml and u feel it is full at that capacity. Did that improve over time or is it still the same? Did you see any changes in bladder spasms in 3 years? I started using condok catheter 2 years ago. my capacity was 100ml at that time. Now, for me, spasms triggers anywhere between 100-400ml depending on my seating position, coughing, laughing, or any other such activity that irritates bladder. I am still using only condom catheter daily.
How do you manage with condom catheter when you are in crowds and bladder spasms trigger?
Please excuse me that the thread's topic is botox, not Oxy, but... I'm glad you were able to quit taking the Oxy, DJ. When the doctors were giving it to me, it markedly interfered with my ability to learn anything new, or to accurately repeat conversations. I had been a court-interpreter some years ago. This requires remembering what the person is saying, and then repeating it, but in a different language. So I was acutely aware when my short-term memory went Kaput, while taking Oxy. About 10 months after my accident, I got off of the oxycodone and/or hydrocodone. But it still took several months for me to get my memory back to almost nornal. So, you did great getting off the Oxy. With you in college, it could have negatively affected your grades.
www.oxycodoneaddictionhelp.com/can-oxycodone-affect-my-memory ...The memory problems from oxycodone abuse present the following risks: * Overdose dangers as users lose track of oxycodone dosage * Cognitive impairments that increase the risk of accidents * Difficulties remembering critical facts or recent experiences * Greater willingness to engage in risky behaviors * Neglect of important responsibilities and obligations
P.S. The above quote says "from oxycodone abuse", but whatever dose the doctors gave me was enough to adversely affect my memory.

Honestly I think my bladder capacity has decreased to 250-300 ml. Bladder spasms are still the same. For me it's also triggered by what I'm doing physically. Apart from catheterizing 3 times a day, I wear a condom all other times. What do you mean how do I manage the condom catheter when in crowds?

Vintage yeah sorry delboy & I were talking about Oxybutynin/Ditropan, not Oxycodone! Didn't realize that they're abbreviated the same way. Big difference in the two though! Lol.

If bladder spasms start when you are in crowd.. Will you be assured that urine wont leak with condom catheter? I had to check condom catheter everytime before pee ing to makesure it wont leak.
So I wondored how you manage with condom catheter in crowds.

Oh my bladder spasms every 30-60 mins and it does worry my everytime because I never know if it's going to leak or not. It really sucks worrying about it all the time but what can we do? Do you have control of your bladder?

I have little control over my bladder if spasm is not triggered. I can hold for 15-20 mins in case there is not extra pressure on bladder or any spasm. 1-2 mins in case spasm is triggered. If am going to meeting or into crowds.. I will stand and will try to pee. In that way.. I will be sure that I am fine for next 30 mins.. but I cannot do anything if I am in crowds. That is the reason my social life is cut.
